Partridge plays Yakuza games in Japanese... I think he prefers original languages. :P

Actually, I hate to say you just have really bad timing. Now that RightStuf has licensed almost the entire Gundam catalog, I think most of the fansubs have been axed and wiped from most of the net.

My 0079 set is from [Zeonic-Corps] and it's incredible. From there [EG] did a lot of excellent releases of the classics from Blu-Rays, the quality is insane. Oh, looks like [EG] also did a release for the original now too...

Gundam ZZ, Turn A, X, and Victory don't have dubs. But they've all been released in the US now. The weird thing about the American release of Zeta is that we will never get the original Japanese OP/ED's, because... something about the singer being dead and licensing issues. It's been an issue for decades I think. The EG fansubs have the original opening and ending songs though.

You can find all these on BakaBT, though they went private. But they might be accepting new invites/users so maybe look into if you can. It's been my only needed source of anime for years, the only stuff they don't have is usually Funimation (though maybe that's changed now that they're private).

These might work!

The movie trilogy for 0079 is actually pretty awesome and a well done condensed version. But I don't recommend the Zeta trilogy movies.

Any plot points or characters from the game you specifically liked the most? I could maybe elaborate on where that stuff is in the shows.

Watch ANY footage of the original PS2 release of Yakuza and tell me that the dubs are worth it  . I'm SO glad that Sega just dropped any notion of dubbing those games after the first one, because that's one of the worst PS2-era translations, let alone dubs, I've ever seen.

Ahhh! Thank you so much! <3

I'm not sure about the bakabt for now, but I'mma give those torrents a try. They seem legit enough :)

I'd say I like all the main characters quite a bit. DW: Gundam covers stuff from 0079 to 0083, so that's Mobile Suit Gundam, Zeta, and ZZ-Gundam, although really just the footnotes of each (and we're talking extreme footnotes of ZZ-Gundam). Amuro and Kamille seem like really compelling characters. Even Kamille's character arc was portrayed fairly well in the game. The main villains seem SO interesting though. Char, Scirocco, and Haman all seem so interesting. Char and Haman's relationship seems very complicated, albeit a bit cliche (I lost a lot of interest as soon as I came across the fact that Haman is a spurned lover, but she's still a really cool character). Scirocco has to be my favorite though. I actually just ordered a mini-figure of The O because I love his character and his MS so much X3

What was most interesting to me is how Star-Warsy some of Gundam feels. Especially their weaponry (lots of beam swords and blasters) and the way Newtypes seem to work. The whole premonition-ish thing they have going on REALLY reeks of what Force-users can do, even if Newtypes don't have telekenesis  . Just lots of interesting parallels, is all :)

Edit: Also, I just realized I have no idea how torrents work at all Xp
I need some kind of client to submit these into, right?

Haha, excellent. Man you're in for a treat if you liked the game that much, damn... you haven't even seen the shows yet! From what I played of DW Gundam 1, yeah I thought I remembered it mostly covering the main UC events. So seems like I was right on that.

Amuro is pretty cool and grows a bit. Kamille is hit or miss with a lot of people from what I've seen, but I've always liked him.... he's a literal genius too, modifying the Zeta Gundam himself and all that. You never see it but I'm pretty sure you get a glimpse of him doing blueprints and stuff that go into it at some point in the show. Judua in ZZ is kind of a trickster at first, but he was really fun and I liked him a lot. The first half of ZZ is really goofy and campy, but I still like it a good bit overall. It's a starking contrast compared to how serious 0079 and Zeta are though.

Space Battleship Yamato and Gundam really are pretty much Japan's Star Wars, hehe. Char is awesome and his character goes through several arcs. The Amuro vs Char rivalry is one of the best in the medium to me. Haman is absolutely one of my favorites too, she freaking rules.

I personally love the Newtype stuff, but some don't. Yeah it's very much the Force and best not to look too deep into it, haha. Honestly 0079 only barely touches it and mostly in the end, but Zeta/ZZ focus a lot more on it.

Also I'm not sure how adaptive you are to old animation, 0079 is very chunky in spots but... charming to me. On the flipside, Zeta and ZZ look downright crazy and are like 50 episode OVA's. A real work of art with incredible vibes.

Wow never touched torrents? lol, well I use Vuze personally. Just be sure when installing, you ignore some of the crap it might want to install on your PC. Don't want to scare you off, I never have problems with it but yeah just make sure you do a custom install and "decline" some of the junk it might want to throw on there. Wouldn't want to mess anyone up here. But I've used it for years with no issues. Should be easy to figure out when installed, you just download the torrent, it should open up in Vuze and you'll tell it where to download to, and that's it. Depending on the seeds and people sharing the files it might take awhile or not. I don't think the seed/peer numbers on nyaa are always accurate, but you'll be able to see them in Vuze when you get the torrent going, just give it a little time.

The basic blueprint of UC Gundam for you:

Gundam 0079 (could go with the movie trilogy)
Zeta Gundam
ZZ Gundam
Char's Counterattack

That's the main stuff with recurring characters. The OVA's tend to flesh out both sides more, it's often discussed how Zeon seems to be Japan's own portrayal in past wars, so it's interesting how they're painted in a brighter light sometimes in the OVA's.

F91 (stand alone movie, was supposed to be another 50 episode series...)
0080 War in the Pocket
0083 Stardust Memory
8th MS Team
Gundam Unicorn (best watched last, as its a further continuation in the timeline).

There's other UC stuff here and there, but that covers the real main content I'd say. Then you can go from there.

For the original stand alone shows, I love:

X
G
Turn A

Hope that helps! I have to ramble on Gundam since I love the UC stuff so much, lol. I wish I could experience it brand new for the first time all over again... it really is the Gundam 0079 movie trilogy that cemented my passion for old anime and really just anime in general again years ago.

The way that DW:Gundam handles ZZ is freaking crazy. I genuinely said out loud "THAT'S IT!?" For how much Puru and Puru Two are in the Original Mode, they literally aren't in the Official mode AT ALL. Judau's campaign is literally 2 missions. Kinda sad, because it seems like what could be a cool character portrayal is kinda wasted, but given how surprisingly good a lot of the other main Official cast gets it, I suppose that's a lot more than you can usually hope for in a Musou game X3

Also, you were right that the 2nd DW:G game doesn't have Japanese vocals in the North American releases. Although I'm fairly sure the 3rd one does, or at least that's what the Wikipedia entry implies. I'm just gonna have to import that Japanese version of 2 I guess  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

lol, yeah I thought it was the second or third game that wasn't dual audio... for some reason.

Maybe ZZ's story gets fleshed out more in the other games. Haman actually only appears in like ~8-10 episodes in Zeta, surprisingly. But she leaves a huge mark. But she's the main antagonist in ZZ, so you get more of her there. Some others from Zeta make a cameo in awesome parts but I don't want to spoil much. That's surprising Puru didn't get much focus in the games haha, they are a big deal in the show. Also... glad you used the Puru spelling, I see "Ple" a lot thesedays but I'll always prefer Puru.

It's like, a SHOCKING truncation. I guess they just couldn't/didn't want to add any other characters at that point? It goes right from Judau just joining the AEUG and fighting through Glemy & Co in the atmosphere to do a landing on Earth (to do a mission you never see or know about), RIGHT to Judau doing a 1v1 fight with Haman (who is wearing some weird helmet now) at the "birthplace of Zeon." They never even say Puru's name, let alone does she get
a feature in it. From what you're telling me, it goes RIGHT from the start of that series to the end of it XD

So Rightstuf has a Kickstarter going to fund a dub for Aria the Animation on bluray. They said they're doing it to get a feel of how many people are interested in dubs. So if that's something you look for, head over and feel free to give it a look-see.

And if you don't care, don't worry about it. They're going to be releasing the show with subtitles regardless of whether or not the campaign is successful*.

*Though it looks like it will be, given that it's currently got 27 days to go and is already over half-way funded.

I'm just about finally all caught up on My Hero Acadamia with my friend after binging a fair bit over the weekend. I gotta say I have mixed feelings about the more recent episodes in terms of their pacing in comparison to previous episodes/seasons/whathaveyou. Given that I'll be complaining in such specific terms, I'm gonna put it in a spoiler tag because it is such a new anime.
I REALLY liked the idea of Stain as a character. They were going for a beacon of charisma for villains like heroes have with OG All Might, and they totally succeeded. I think his reasons for fighting are really compelling, and am quite interested to see where they take the arc from here with other villains coming out of the woodwork to take up his banner.

HOWEVER, the fight to defeat Stain I though was absolute trash compared to how this show has handled big fights so far. MHA, compared to other shonens, has had such a refreshing fashion of handling fights. No Naruto or Dragon Ball-esque fights where there are several episodes of talking and fighting and flashing back and looking at what other guys are doing meanwhile and more talking and more fighting. It was very good at keeping the viewer in the moment, and keeping the tension and momentum of the scene alive.

The third season (which is what I'm calling it because of the new intro and outro)
has really stepped away from a lot of that though. Things are getting SO crowded from a cast perspective, now you have all of these character and power refreshers that pop up on screen every single time a character who hasn't been seen in that episode pops up.
This very well may not have been the first show to do this, but it's really immersion breaking to see it every single time, especially on a show that is relatively good at having a large cast that is iconic enough that you don't forget who has what power, even if you might forget their name. With the cast not only getting bigger all the time (it would seem) but also spreading out to do different stuff, it kinda necessitates these kinds of refreshers from a commercial standpoint, but it still annoys me as I believe it harms the narrative impact of the show.

The Stain fight though goes against so much of that earlier good pacing. First Stain has a big ol' talk and monologue with Iida, becasue Iida wants revenge for his brother. Then Midorya comes at the last second to save him. I didn't mind this, and it really fit thematically with the show. But THEN you have Todoroki coming to help just at the last second, and THEN you have Iida jumping up to save Todoroki at the last second. THEN when we finally get to the actual climax of Iida and Midorya giving it their all to take down Stain with a double-hit, it just feels so much more weak because of how the show has been stringing you along with climaxes this whole time. Earlier fights, like in their Chunin exa- I mean, sports festival :P , fights only took one episode, and they got right into the meat of things, usually with only one of the character's backstory's as they battle not only their opponent but their inner demons (like the Todoroki Vs. Midorya fight). But with the Stain fight you have that happening with not only Iida, but also with Todoroki. This wouldn't all be so bad if it didn't feel like they were CONSTANTLY going through the same points over and over and over (particularly with Iida's stuff). Then you have the cut-aways to how others are fighting the rampaging Nomus, and it just really splatters the tension away from what is otherwise a very cool fight.

Then you also have the fucking bullshit that super hero anythings love so much about not killing ANYONE EVER because that would somehow corrupt a good guy's ability to be good.
Like, Stain is a fucking confirmed mass murderer. You have 4 very reliable witnesses to attempted murder. He's also been proven time and time again to be immensely dangerous. Why the FUCK don't they just fucking kill him there in the street?! I hate that trope so god damn much.
I really hope they get their sense of pacing back soon, and it seems like things might be going that way. The episode focused on Froppy's internship was very focused, deliberate, and quick, so they clearly still have an animation director who can tell stories like that. Perhaps the original Manga of the previous fight I complained so much about was just too complicated to be able to cram in successfully, and perhaps this was just the edit they were most happy with on the time crunch schedule they're undoubtedly on.

The show's never really been my favorite show to begin with, but I've always liked it a bit. That's why it makes me so sad that one of the things I loved about it so much is going away  .

On a funnier note, my friend says that out of any character, the captain in Froppy's intern episode is the one that reminds her the most of me, which I'm inclined to agree with  . She said I'm most similar to either Froppy or I'm the captain, and I and I can definitely see her point with both of those

Right now I'm in the middle of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid.... I'm really liking the anime a lot as it feels like a true family story and every day life... but with dragons. It is the first anime I was able to get my girlfriend to watch as she doesn't really care for anime which makes me happy. We are up to Episode 9 and are liking it. I think what really wins for the series is how the dragons interact with everyday life while Kobayashi seems to not care about the powers but only trying to make them happy even if that isn't what her original intent was.
