But having read that, JT, much of it is comprised of extending previous economic credits and tax breaks, as well as individual components of his healthcare overhaul. He also played 105 games of golf in his first term, with the latest one today. By this point, George W. Bush had played about 25.

So?...Ack wrote:He also played 105 games of golf in his first term, with the latest one today. By this point, George W. Bush had played about 25.
Is that a bad thing?...
Also keep in mind that playing golf is not only about playing golf.
Some of those games could very well have been work related.
But even if this was not the case, I still don't see anything wrong with it.

"President Obama has been on vacation 78 days from 2009 to 2011. At the three year mark into their first terms, George W. Bush spent 180 days at his ranch in Crawford, Texas and Ronald Reagan spent 112 vacation days at his ranch in California. Of course, staff was around all three Presidents on vacations and all White House aides argue that the commander-in-chief is never “out of touch” with work."

I don't proclaim Obama is perfect. In that spirit, to go along with my other post, here are 91 promises Obama has broken.Ack wrote:But having read that, JT, much of it is comprised of extending previous economic credits and tax breaks, as well as individual components of his healthcare overhaul. As it is with any man, it is much easier to simply lump him into a "good" or "bad" category than it is to see him for who he really is, for both his deeds and his sins.

If there's anything more obvious than water being wet is politicians telling a lie.

I would bet that Obama has played more games of Basketball than George Bush too.

Props for honesty of course, but I'm a small government guy. A lot of that list was aid this, increase that, provide incentives here, expand this, etc. That's a large part of why I didn't like him.J T wrote:Are you even aware of what he has done in office? I don't mean that offensively, but most people honestly don't realize how much he has accomplished. He is an incredibly productive president who has done more in his four years of office than I imagine I will ever achieve in my lifetime. He's still dealing with this shit economy he inherited though, so people will never be satisfied.BoringSupreez wrote: I gave Obama a shot in his first term. I was rooting for McCain, but when Obama won I was willing to see how things went before labeling him a bad president. This time I have no reason to wait, as his track record has already disappointed me.
It's most of the same people in Washington as usual. The only difference is their term number, and those numbers being one higher doesn't inspire any optimism in me.
Here's 193 promises Obama made and kept, just for your education:

Also, I find it hilarious that getting his daughters a puppy was made that list.
EDIT:It seems harsh to say he broke those other promises. Everything takes time and some of them might be kept yet.

Not only have I taken every vacation day possible, I take a ton of half days which are basically full days off. I also give every employee of mine the benefit of the doubt on sick days.
Your Dad slipped and broke his hip? I wish you both the best and take what time you need off, but remember you will be accountable to report your p'n'l Friday morning for review.
Grandma died again? That is serious. Make sure you are back on Monday and have the p and l on Friday morning.
Your car was ran over by your dog? That, that makes zero sense. You don't even own a dog. But hey, thanks for saying you'll be two hours late.
Not having to ride people's tails is the best management position possible. Hire the right people and your job plays out as:
Manager: Did we lose money?
Employee: Nope.
Manager: Great. Did we make any money?
Employee: Three bucks.
Manager: Terrific. We can keep our jobs.

I'm not saying it's something you can't get over, but becoming the POTUS is probably the highest achievement possible on earth at the moment. Coming so close and failing would have to suck, no matter who you are.o.pwuaioc wrote:In other news, Walter Mondale and Bob Dole are still alive.BoringSupreez wrote:I can't imagine what it's like to go from being almost-president to nothing in less than 24 hours.

Re: Poll: who are you voting for this year?
Right, but in your case you knew going in that you weren't going to be happy with him (as the general Dem platform is larger government). So Obama didn't let you down. Dave's point was to say that Obama let you down when you gave him a shot is probably not accurate.DinnerX wrote:Props for honesty of course, but I'm a small government guy.
