How long is the average lifespan for a mantis?
It all depends on the species, sex, and how they're kept. Females tend to live longer than males. The more they eat and the warmer their conditions the faster they grow. On average I'd say they live about 18 months, but only as an adult for 2-4 months.
Nymphs (babies) go through stages called "Instars". They are aged by the number of times they molt (L1, L2, L3, etc). When they molt a final time, they'll have wings and will be able to mate. This is the adult form.
