How do you go about fusing weapons? I fused my highest level guy for my first one. I assume something like that would be more costly later in the game?

Also, what do things like charm, courage and academics do exactly? Are they worth spending time on?
To be honest I never really explored the weapon fusing much. I found I was rarely using weapon attacks beyond the beginning of the game (I preferred to hit elemental weakness).

Charm, Courage, and Academics are your social stats. You need certain levels of social stats to start certain social links, or to take particular options in those links (which might give you the biggest benefit to advancing the link). Since the social links tie directly into powering up your personas (bonus exp at fusion, up to 5 level's worth, as well as final fusions for an arcana unlocking) it's definitely worth exploring those.
Here's another question.

Let's say I have a Magician persona, but my social link with the Magician person is only level 1. If I level my social link to 2, will my Magician Persona passively get stronger?

IE, do personas scale along side social links? Or are social links only useful for when you first create personas (like the bonus EXP you talked about).

Social links are only checked when you create personas. And specifically there are breakpoints you want to shoot for:

Level 1 - 1 level of experience
Level 3 - 2 levels of experience
Level 5 - 3 levels of experience
Level 8 - 4 levels of experience
Level 10 - 5 levels of experience

The in-between get you part-way to the next level. When you consider how much experience it takes to level up a persona (which only gets worse as you get further in the game) the majority of persona leveling up will occur through social links. The main exception is when you get to the end game and unlock the bonus dungeon; that place gives a ton of experience if you can handle the enemies.

Cool, one more question.

What do the Persona's stats mean? Like how come they have endurance and stuff when you don't really fight with them?

Also, does your character have individual stats of his/her own? For instance, if I equip a low level persona to my character, does it make him weaker?

The only stats your character has is HP/SP. The stats on the persona are then applied to you as your combat stats. So endurance will up your defense, strength will up your physical attack damage, etc. So yes, equipping low level personas will weaken you.

Hey, I maxed out one of my social links (the dude you hang out with if you join the Track team). He still calls me once in a while to go hang out, is it worth doing it even though the link is maxed out already? There any bonuses? (the one time I did it I got courage increase, that was it).

Also, what's the deal with the film festival? Am I supposed to take everyone in SEES to see it?

As you mentioned, taking them out after you max them out can give you some points in your social stats, but in general it's better to use the time to level up a different social link. As for the film festival, I don't remember that part exactly; as far as I remember it just helps you gain social points with people.

Started up another Working Designs game on Sega CD: Vay.

It's a no-frills straightforward traditional JRPG. I dig it.

I have Vay as well and enjoyed what I did play as a kid. I never beat it...I should definitely try and revisit it when I have a huge chunk of time. Can't go wrong with fantasy mechs!

Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time on the PSP. I'm not sure I'm enjoying it or not. It'll probably be one of those games that I forgot I ever played 15 years down the road.

Isn't that just another way of saying it is generic?
