This not actually a RPG. It is, however, a fun sequel to the isometric, NES platformer...Solstice.Ack wrote:Equinox

Yeah, then I definitely suggest talking to Bone about his thoughts on great SFC RPGs that never came over and are still cheap.darsparx wrote:Well I'm only importing thanks to the r5, since japanese stuff is 10x cheaper sometimes and heck I can somehow get rpgs we never got for a decent price it seems
And also, Bahamut Lagoon.
Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
Yeah, some of the games that get labeled RPG for the SNES are weird. Goof Troop and Big Sky Trooper are both called RPGs by some folks. Since I've never played Equinox, I'm not sure what I'd consider it. I just know it's not too expensive.prfsnl_gmr wrote:This not actually a RPG. I think people see the title and the high-fantasy artwork and think, "Looks liek a RPG to me!"Ack wrote:Yeah, some of the games that get labeled RPG for the SNES are weird. Equinox is pretty fun, BTW. It is a lot of isometric platforming and puzzle-solving. The perspective may drive you mad, however, and the game is very, very difficult. (Truthfully, I have not spent that much time with it either.)

Just fired up Popful Mail.

Breath of Fire for the first time in ages
Some of the sequence triggers are freaking maddening. But it's still a lot of fun, scratches that early 90s RPG itch just fine.

Final Fantasy X
I've been enjoying this game quite a bit up t this point, but a couple of hours attempting some of the mini games that pop-up offering great rewards has convinced me that if I want to keep that opinion, I'd best stick to the main path.
I'm of the opinion that Square Enix's staff couldnt cobble together a mini game with half decent controls for their life. I expect they give the minigame coding duties to the intern.
I'm not big fan of most of the Final Fantasy's series sidequests either actually. I'll stick to the main story.

Sequence triggers? You mean like a "you must talk to the correct person before proceeding" type of thing? Yeah that's classic retro JRPG. Breath of Fire is a great game. Love the soundtrack.SNESdrunk wrote: Some of the sequence triggers are freaking maddening. But it's still a lot of fun, scratches that early 90s RPG itch just fine.
Taking a break from Ys for a bit, but I do plan to take down at least three more Ys games before the year is out. Maybe four if I can get Ys Eternal to run properly on one of my computers.Stark wrote:You misspelled Ys.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Just fired up Popful Mail.
Still sticking with Falcom though.
