Nah, can't see this. The PS2 has much better 3D control for 3D games than the Dreamcast nevermind the 5th gen consoles.
Yes I agree, but what I'm saying is that the PS1 had more (
mainstream) 2D controlled games (even if they were 3D in graphics, their gameplay was still 2D).
basically what I meant was that 3D controls didn't get good till the PS3 imo. Maybe late PS2 as Ack said, but I wasn't there for it. So I would rather play the PS1 games that controlled like 2D games (Tomba, Klonoa, Final Fantasy, Crash Bandicoot (you could say it controls a lot like a 2D game....no?) than PS2 games where, at least the franchises that I followed, went full 3D but weren't really well designed for 3D gameplay.

I may have misunderstood, but I think Zero is referring to games like this, where the controls are at least partially similar but have some interesting quirks that change them from the set 3D dual analog control standard we have today.
I will say this though: by the end of its run, the PS2 cements a lot of those game control decisions that we see as fully standardized in the PS3 era. And it sounds like he's had some limited experience with mostly earlier games or licensed games that don't exactly shout "quality."
Not exactly, but I will admit I do find games with "stupid controls" but with the gameplay/levels designed around these stupid controls interesting (see: Tomb Raider, Resident Evil).
On the other hand as I mentioned, it is my personal opinion and I know it's unpopular, and I probably feel this way cause I never explored the PS2's library other than skin deep...but I just keep getting burned by the damn thing every time I try some games on it
