So I am really not following the industry and have no idea whats going on but some comments

***
AEW ALL IN
***

I skipped a little bit around the show
  1. Looks like I am living under a rock. I never saw any other wrestling company pull in that many attendance except for WWE. The numbers i believe beat WCW/WWF in 1997. Had no idea AEW was that popular
  2. I am surprised how much money AEW has, the fire works are spectacular. I know the owner is a billionaire but it should be: revenue > expense
  3. I'd watch that hardcore match over anything on the WWE Barney Kiddie show.
  4. I do not know who this MJF guy is, but seriously they had people bowing to the floor for him? They things people will do for money
  5. I am not sure if that is supposed to be a big entrance, but this is on the level of ECW 1996 trying a bad attempt to mimic one of Triple H entrances. Its cheesy and laughable
  6. That main event is a snooze fest. Slow action, long match, and conversations in between? is this a new style of wrestling  And they said there are no longer new ideas in wrestling, everything has been done

Impact Wrestling
***
I skipped to see how things are going on for TNA or Impact Wrestling. I am surprised why the owners are even keeping this thing alive or how do they make money from it. Its hard to believe this company once had Hogan, Flair, Sting, Kurt Angle and many more all on the same roster. talking about bad management

@Reprise

how does this people paying WWE to host their events in their town work? I thought companies rent out the venues , and venues make the money , not venues paying for events to come to their venue.

Except for Saudi, because Saudi is leveraging WWE to get their name out and market themselves globally albeit I am not sure who gets the ticket sales.

You know, there was a funny interview Seth Rollins did where he talked about wrestling being in a boom period. As an example, he mentioned how a certain wrestling company (which he didn't name) just did an 80,000 person show at Wembley. He then went on to mention that WWE had sold 90,000 tickets for the next Wrestlemania

I see what you did there Seth. WWE/AEW are officially in a dick measuring contest right now

So I have to talk about AEW now because...well...some big shit just went down

And as a final fuck you to Punk

This man is the hero we didn't know we needed

I actually watched Collision for once, all of it, and I love how they've built up Cassidy/Moxley. The promos have been fucking awesome. CASSIDY IS DOING ACTUAL PROMOS!!!

Moxley is the odds on favorite, but I hope Cassidy surprises everyone tomorrow. I think Moxley with the International title would be kind of boring honestly.

Hahaha can't believe Punk got fired, it's hilarious. It's weird how the initial reports got seemingly massively downplayed, but then the subsequent ones got more and more outlandish. I guess the more outlandish ones turned out to be true. I thought it was just a scuffle from what was originally said.

I watched the opening part to Collision. I am glad Ricky Starks' push is being maintained and they are continuing his story. I was excited to see Bryan Danielson return (guess he's a face now lol  ). I haven't watched the rest yet, but will.

I just hope they maintain Collision's own identity and different tone, and it doesn't get diluted and turned into Dynamite 2.0 or the new Rampage. I watch Collision to get away from idiots like Jon Moxley and The Young Bucks, so not a good sign if they were on it (it was already leaked that Bucks would be though). What's the point of Collision if they are just continuing the same stories and feuds that Dynamite is doing? Edit: Oh jesus, just got to the Jeff Jarrett and Dennis Rodman segment. Yeah, this is Dynamite 2.0 (or is it WCW 2.0? )

I don't think I will be watching All Out tonight. It was daft to do it a week after All In and Orange Cassidy (much as I love him) vs Jon Moxley isn't main event worthy. At least WWE had Rollins vs Nakamura for Payback, despite the lack of Reigns or Bloodline bollocks (how long ago did that story jump the shark?), which is a much better main event than AEW is putting on. Starks vs Bryan should be fun though.

Speaking of which, how was Payback? Was it as shit as the card looked?

The local tourist boards/governments pay WWE to host their events in their towns. Not the venues themselves. It's why WWE is unlikely to ever go to London or do Wembley Stadium unless they now just do it to one up AEW. London will never pay big bucks, as they don't need the tourism. WWE's argument is "you pay us, and you will still make silly money through the attention we bring and it will benefit your local tourism. Wales paid a lot of money for them to do Clash at the Castle last year (way more than London would offer), which is why WWE held it there.

It is. I am just bored of Bucks. I am bored of the Elite in general. They haven't done anything meaningful in like over a year. I feel like all Young Bucks matches are the same now too. I blame Cornette for getting in my head, much as he is a grumpy old man yelling at clouds who doesn't like modern wrestling (and who I rarely ever agree with). He's right, they just do flippy gymnastics and don't sell.

I haven't seen Payback yet. I do know that there was a title change, and someone turned on someone else. I don't know if there were any great matches. Between watching Collision, processing the Punk thing, and playing Sea of Stars, Payback kind of got put on the back burner. Maybe I'll watch it today.

The Young Bucks don't sell any less than anybody else these days. No selling some stuff is just part of modern wrestling. Hell, they do it all the time in Japan. People kick out of pin attempts after being hit by big moves or finishers after just a one count. It's all part of that "fighting spirit" Japanese fans love. Same reason you see wrestlers stand in front of each other and ask the other guy (or gal if you're watching Stardom) to just hit them, leading to back and forth punches, elbows, or chop fests. Much of modern day wrestling is patterned after Japan as well as the indies. They've been driving the direction of the in ring product for years now.

I have a few thoughts on Collision. Claudio's promo was awesome. Him beating up Wheeler Yuta was funny, but also exemplified what tough, crazy bastards the BCC are. I love the line about how they beat the crap out of Yuta, and he always gets back up. That's literally why they brought him into the BCC in the first place. They were impressed by his toughness.

Moxley's promo was awesome. I can't remember the last time he seriously put someone over like he did Cassidy. It's a nice change of pace from him just talking about how he's better then everyone or how the BCC is above anyone else. God it was nice for him to actually acknowledge someone for a change. He also perfectly explained how idiotic Cassidy's haters are, almost felt like a shoot promo.

I think it's hilarious how fast you could tell this was a post Punk show. They immediately replaced him with Danielson and we got our first appearance of The Elite on the show. You might as well have cued up the old, "Na na na, na na na, hey, hey, goodbye" song.

There's rumors that AEW wants to pick up Mariah May whenever she's done with Stardom. Honestly, I think AEW could build the women's division around her. She's the one thing AEW doesn't have in the women's division, a total package. She's pretty hot, not exactly my type, but hot by most people's standards. She's not afraid to flaunt her sex appeal either (it's a key part of her character). She also can go in the ring, as she's currently mixing it up in Stardom with some of the best female wrestlers in the world. She's also got charisma and personality. She could outshine Saraya and even Britt Baker. She's only 25 too.

ImageImage

Frankly, I wouldn't mind AEW getting all of Club Venus, would be more entertaining than anything else in their women's division right now and all but one of them aren't even Japanese, so they'd adapt easily

I am really glad they are still giving Starks his push and giving him someone of Danielson's stature to work with. I just felt like bad for the guy that he was set to main event his first PPV and then he gets potentially fucked over because of Punk's actions. Glad to see Bryan back too.

The Punk thing is funny to me because some people are acting surprised while any sane, mature person with common sense saw this coming ages ago. Then you have the idiots who are in denial. "It's all just a work dude!" "It's just a story line!"

My God, the IQ level of some pro wrestling fans

Image

I heard Trish vs Lynch from Payback was good, might check it out

I can't wrap my head around the stupid booking of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. You know Judgement Day interferes in everything, so your solution is to have a no DQ, hardcore rules match essentially making it EASIER for all of Judgement Day to get involved in your match? God, they really don't know what to do with these guys post Bloodline story. One of the most annoying things about pro wrestling is how they always make babyfaces look like morons. You almost want to root for the heels a lot of the time.
