If Awesome Japan suck so much, I wonder why Yu Suzuki chose them.
I wish people would stop banging on about it though. I'm bored of reading it. I'm considering taking a break from the Shenmue Dojo and coming back later, because that's all anybody is bloody going on about at the moment. It's boring. Yes, the campaign could be better, but we're getting fucking Shenmue 3! I know, there are criticisms and they are fair and justifiable, but they've been discussed 44,989 times now. It's like a broken record. Stop acting like a child who's not getting their way and just shut the fuck up.
Rant over haha.

Seriously, I am tempted to avoid reading anything about it and just continue contributing like on the 3rd. They're being so nitpicky about details that are so minute. Yes, some additional rewards would have been cool to include. Yes, the Bloodstained campaign was a little more active. They're apples and oranges though. We're getting Shenmue 3 and it will be great.

Why would most people know that information? Plus, I thought it said somewhere that Fangamer had a hand in it?pierrot wrote:I don't understand how it's taken this long for people to realize that Awesome Japan is at the helm of the Kickstarter, and that they're pretty much f-ups. It was all there from day one. Now everyone seems to be misplacing his emotions. Kickstarter comment section is a circus side show right now.

This documentary is something amazing. I've read about Kowloon Walled City and what it entailed, but seeing it via film is something completely different. I think in some ways Yu Suzuki captured it very well in Shenmue II at the time. I also find it particularly interesting that he even brought attention to the Walled City, as it's something that very few people have heard about but is so unique and distinct. For it to be explored in a way as it was in Shenmue was pretty cool.
The documentary is English subtitles, German language.

Due diligence? Sure, it's a lot to assume of people normally, let alone with all the emotions surrounding the announcement. Personally, my first reaction to the kickstarter page was that it was pretty lacking. Scrolling through the page, at the end of the list of project members, I could see that Awesome Japan was credited as "Communication, media relations and Kickstarter project consultation and support." That was pretty clear information, to me. (Their team photo kind of tipped me off, as well.) The twitch stream certainly solidified my opinion of them, but I didn't need to see it to tell that they aren't equipped to handle this Kickstarter properly.Snatch1414 wrote:Why would most people know that information? I haven't seen any mention of Fangamer being involved with Shenmue III. They handled physical reward fulfillment for the Mighty No.9 KS, and they were part of the Bloodstained KS. It would have been great to have either 8-4, Ltd. or Fangamer handling the PR, but I'd imagine Ys Net might not have had the funds to retain them.
Anyway, on a more positive note, I was really happy to hear Yu talk about the different settings for the game in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrMLWuftwfY. It sounds like the stretch goals for Baisha could make that a really cool setting. I'm interested in what he wants to do with it, but it almost sounds like he's going to throw a Musou game in there. In the Twitch stream he likened Choubu to Dobuita, so it would be nice to have that area finished, but it seems unlikely for this Kickstarter. Also, there's apparently something about the battle system, and Baisha stretch goals that need to be implemented for the Choubu expansion goals to work the way he wants them to. The Magic Maze in Bailu interests the hell out of me, too.

It looks like they added a lot of tchotchkes to the $1,000+ levels? Or did that happen before and I just didn't notice?
