You are correct. The whole point of a boycott is to not give money to the company. I bought a used PS3 and never bought anything from PSN.AppleQueso wrote:Probably got one used.brunoafh wrote:So... how do you own a PS3 if you boycott Sony?Inazuma wrote:My boycott of Sony started way before the PS3 so I never gave them my credit card. I own close to 200 PS1 games. All of them bought used. I can eat my Sony cake without any guilt. (^_^)

the important thing is that you believe you're making a difference!Inazuma wrote: You are correct. The whole point of a boycott is to not give money to the company. I bought a used PS3 and never bought anything from PSN.

Sony has thousands of dollars less thanks to me. It's small but it's better than nothing.noiseredux wrote:the important thing is that you believe you're making a difference!Inazuma wrote: You are correct. Thousands of dollars in the eyes of a company the size of Sony = NothingInazuma wrote:Sony has thousands of dollars less thanks to me. It's small but it's better than nothing.
Re: Anonymous strikes again
I happen to think buying second hand still counts as supporting them (which is why I think game devs and publishers shouldn't generally think bad about the 2nd hand sales).
I've posted at more length about this in other threads where it made more sense so I won't repeat it here for now.

I don't buy PS3 games, even used ones. You were gonna say that buying used PS3 games reduces the number of available games, therefore increasing the chances that someone would decide to buy new, right?Ivo wrote:I happen to think buying second hand still counts as supporting them (which is why I think game devs and publishers shouldn't generally think bad about the 2nd hand sales).

I just buy PS1 and PS2 games.
Re: Anonymous strikes again
What's the point of buying a PS3 if you don't buy any PS3 games? You could have saved a ton (even buying used) by just getting the PS2.Inazuma wrote:I don't buy PS3 games, even used ones. I bought the PS3 to play PS1 and PS2 games on it, with the built in upscaling feature. But since I had a PS3, I started buying PS3 games for it. Then Sony tried to remove the Other OS feature and blocked my PSN access, so I stopped buying PS3 games.MrPopo wrote:What's the point of buying a PS3 if you don't buy any PS3 games? Oh, I also used to use the PS3 to stream media before getting a new PC with HDMI out. And I got my own standalone upscaler (XRGB-3) so I don't even need the PS3 for PS1/2 games anymore. Hmm, I don't have any reason for a PS3 anymore, I guess. If it breaks, I won't replace it.
Re: Anonymous strikes again
You don't even need HDMI out; as long as you can put out DVI you can just use a DVI/HDMI cable for $5, plus run the audio cable from your sound card out.
