Nah, I originally tried it on Xbox 360 and this most recent playthrough was with the PC, Prepare to Die version, so no problems with framerate.

Xeogred wrote:Did you ever use the Claymore in the other games? You have to see it here to believe it. The size is hilarious.
Haha, awesome, I'll check it out if I find one. I started with a Knight, cause it's the dude from the cover and the cutscenes ...

Xeogred wrote:I love how Dark Souls 3 gave me a lot of serious Boletaria vibes with its castle areas, same with the Ivory King DLC area in Dark Souls 2.
I started a playthrough of DS2 again, because I never played the DLC, so I'll be excited to get to those parts to see what you mean. I'll still mostly focus on this, so it may be a while till I get there.

I found DS2's DLC to be harder than NG+ runs on any of these games (and I find vanilla DS2 to be a cake walk). It's insanely good though, the levels are massive which is kind of the one major flaw I agree with on DS2, most of the areas are really tiny and sporadic until you get to some of the later levels. But the DLC levels are like broken up into 1-2 giant areas per DLC, so they're really memorable and unique. The Iron King DLC level is definitely one of my favorites in the entire franchise. But really all of it is really good, to be frank I think they blow DS1's DLC out of the water.

I was basically told not to jump in that hole by @prfsnl_gmr, but I couldn't resist!

Then I ran up the stairs and found a guy at the end of a bridge with glowing red eyes. Message on the ground "New players turn around." Ha! I got this. Wrecked. Ok.

Yep. That happened to me too.

There is a way to exploit the game's AI to kill him (i.e., he will chase you relentlessly once he spots you and you can lead him to a point where he falls to his death). It is a bit tricky to pull off, however, and you should stick to the guys with glowing blue eyes for now. (They are hard enough!)

BTW, you are about to open up a short cut, and you should keep your eyes peeled for a thief's ring in the next section. Also, don't mess with the dragons. You REALLY aren't ready for those yet.

Is the one at the bottom of the left tower? I cut down some bodies (classic Dark Souls, er.. this game apparently) and got some loot from those.

Blue eyed guys aren't too bad if you parry and riposte them. I suspect the red guy would go down this way too, but if I miss the parry he one-shot's me. So there's that.

Yes. That's it. You'll open a few more before you get to the first boss.

That works. They are much more susceptible to back-stabbing, however. Just dodging their attacks and countering Punch Out!!-style works well too. (I created a DEX build - with just a touch of magic! - and I did not use the parry-and-riposte technique much throughout the game...In fact, I carried my sword with both hands most of the time, and I used my sad little shield only when entering new, dimly lit areas or when fighting in narrow corridors.)

Also dealing with a crappy controller here at work, which frequently decides to change my item, remove my shield, change my weapon, or consume/use the item I'm holding. I don't know what the heathens that work here did to this poor controller ... :/ Might have to bring one from home.

Played some more, found the Thief Ring and that made me realize I had a Cling Ring which was a nice boost to HP since it makes being in soul form only give you 25% HP loss instead of 50% (I think, not positive on the amount). The jump down to that NPC with the orange glow scared the crap out of me, there was a message on the ground to jump down and since there was a barrier there I didn't think pressing up against it would cause me to actually jump down! Fall damage isn't as a much of a thing in this game as Dark Souls (just a handy FYI for when you play Dark Souls eventually, you woulda lost like half your health from that jump in Dark Souls.) I opened up the main gate and was treated with an intimidating cutscene of 'something' throwing a giant spear out the gate. OOH, also forgot I got smashed by 4 or 5 boulders running down some parapets, that was hilarious.

Anyway outside the boss gate I thought I should go and level up since I had 5,000+ souls, but when I went back to the Nexus I couldn't figure out how to level. I assume it is with The Maiden in Black, but I couldn't find hide nor hair of that chick. Also world tendency is not clear at all? How do I tell if it is white or black?

You can trigger that trap and take out a lot of enemies very quickly, and throughout the game, you should be on the look out for ways that you can use traps like this to your advantage.

The maiden in black doesn't show until after you have defeated the first boss. The risk of losing all of your accumulated souls makes the encounter very stressful. It is not that hard, however, especially if you saved up some firebombs.

From what I have read, the world tendency will stay at neutral if you are connected to the internet. Only if you go offline can you really influence it one way or the other. (If I recall correctly, you can check world tendency once you have defeated the other bosses and opened the other gates.)
