Smile: Christmas is coming
Ticked:......You know what....I can't think of anything. I don't have any more work from now til Tuesday and........Christmas is coming
The same thing happened when I was in high school. They didn't want us using the internet in drafting class so they deleted all the browsers off the computers, but were too lazy to actually disconnect the computers from the internet. It's really sad they gave us so little credit, but then our school was like that.
I was away at school and walking to class when she called and told me about it:
Me: So you're still connected to the internet, right?
Mom: Yeah. I think so.
Me: You at the computer now?
Mom: Yes.
Me: Ok. We'll find out. Click on 'My Documents'
Mom:....Ok.....
Me: See where the little drop down menu is that says 'My Documents'?
Mom: Yeah.
Me: Highlight and delete
Mom:...all right...
Me: Now type in *web address (I think I gave her Yahoo or Google. Don't remember)* and hit Enter.
Mom:.........Bwahahahahahaha!
I think the only other time my mother has ever been so proud of me is after I graduated

Something similar happened to my mom at her old job a couple years ago. The new boss wanted to keep people from "wasting time" so they took the internet browsers off all the computers without telling anyone beforehand. And I mean everyone. My mom wasn't one of the nameless masses either, she was a higher-up. Boy was she pissed. Nobody likes it when they've been somewhere for 15 years and then are suddenly treated like a child. The stupid thing was, that several of their programs needed to be hooked up to the internet for updates and such so they couldn't disconnect the computers. Instead they just deleted Internet Explorer.fastbilly1 wrote:Ticked - .....She stated that she is monitoring all phonecalls, emails, and even keystrokes, for if we are slacking off or "committing illegal activities." So my time on the site will be brief for the future....

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the info. I didn't see the option to bypass it but I don't think I was looking for it either. Luckily I was still able to make my purchase with my credit card, it just would have been easier with Paypal since I normally use it for purchases mostly on ebay and ioffer. I had no freaking clue that there was a "sending limit"? Which was the initial message I received when they asked for my bank account. Either way they're not getting my bank info though. My credit card company is good like that with disputing for me so that's why I linked that to Paypal in case of any issues.BurningDoom wrote:DO NOT give you're bank account info. Refuse, they'll still keep you. I had my bank account hacked through PayPal. Then after it was discovered and I tried to shut down the account in order to open a new one, they made it incredibly difficult and frustrating. When I started a new PayPal account, I told them that I absolutely refuse to give them my account info due to their incompetence and their unwillingness to understand and help me when I tried to fix it. They then accepted my Visa Travel Card.ExedExes wrote:As a PP member for 10 years, I would not worry about it. Of course, make sure the request is only coming from the URL https://www.paypal.com for they get a lot of phishing attacks.Evildeadmanwalking77 wrote:Ticked off: Paypal needs my bank account info now apparently for some ridiculous verification reasons? They already have my American Express account so I'm not just giving out my bank account info.
Otherwise, if it's coming up on the actual site, there should be a "no thanks" or "cancel/continue" option. They always bug me for a bank account to be a "Verified" member, but unless your using the account for selling stuff on Ebay/online store, that status is unnecessary. I just have a credit card on file for buying things through PP online, and I would NOT trust them with a bank account or such information, seeing how badly they screwed up lately in the news. Plus, with a credit card, you have fraud & liability protection built in and you can dispute any charges and not be responsible -- not so much with a bank account.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
I am going to move on. Sadly the market in Atlanta is over saturated with sales and IT. I just talked to the Director of Sales and he said "well you stated in this interview that you were content in your position" and brought up a document from two years ago. I told him the game has changed completely and I would like to find another position more fitting, either with this company or another. He told me that we will talk about it in the New Year.o.pwuaioc wrote:What Hobie said. I have next week off and I plan on pouring myself into getting my certs again. If I can get my MCITP for either Enterprise Support or Desktop Admin by the end of Q1, well then I can demand a better position or just leave and get another job. Speaking of which, apparently now you can just walk in and pay for the exam, instead of having to do the classes. Does anyone know anything about that? I cannot find a place in Atlanta that does it. Ill drive to the Microsoft office if I have to, I use to work around the corner from it.
And yes the Cisco certs are probably more important than the Microsoft Certs. But Microsoft Certs will get me a Sales Engineer job which means my Education credits at work can be used for the CCNA instead of just being used for an MBA. And since I have five years of them stored up, well then I might be able to get the job, use the credits to pay for a CCNA crash course, get a real job, then quit. I tried to get my CCNA several years ago, but the money fell out, so my Cisco knowledge is a bit rusty and a crashcourse is needed. I use to be a Windows Jr System Admin, so I should be able to get the base Microsoft certs with just book learning. On the flipside, I am going to try and get my Ubuntu Cert next year aswell.
Turns out my new supervisor REALLY doesnt like me since I went to the Director of Sales about a new position, but she would have been even more pissed if I had gone to the VP like I was trying to. She is probably going to try and get me fired next year, but I am beyond the point of caring now.
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
@fastbilly1 I have a lot of the Cisco professional certs (CCNP, DP, VP) I can always help with questions or study help. Good luck, I know how chasing certs can be. Also, as far as I've seen, you could always just walk into a Pearson Vue testing center and take a test with no class time.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
You know what pissed me off today? I went to trade in some wii games that are worth 60.00+ and I wanted trade value so the guy says and I quote" These games are too rich in blood. They came out in 2009. I can't take these" WTF? TOO RICH? This store has snes games that are 70.00+ and they came out in 94-96. I always recommended them and now F$%K them. I am never going back.

Yes, there is a sending limit that can only be lifted by adding a bank account to become a Verified member. Mine currently stands at $10,000 but I still have close to 8K left. I am guessing the longer you are with them the more you get, but it should not be that much of an issue, it has never been for me. Also, some transactions do NOT reduce the limit, so just keep an eye on it from time to time.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Thank you Stark. Turns out there is one around the corner from my office, sadly they do not offer Microsoft certs anymore, but they do offer Cisco and CompTIA - since I got my A+ and Network+ in the late 90s, I believe they have expired (In 2010 they started giving them 3 year lifespans). The reason I didnt think about Pearson Vue is because I was looking for MS certs specifically, but now I know I need to update the CompTIAs.Stark wrote:a Pearson Vue testing center and take a test with no class time.

I'd focus on the CCNA and the MCITP-SA or -EA, seems much more valuable then A+ or Network+, IMO.fastbilly1 wrote:Thank you Stark.
