A proper roguelike gives you a fighting chance provided you can strategize well. Izuna's developers were too lazy to bother balancing the game to that degree, instead they just let you accrue experience levels as a war of attrition against their poor game design. (Or maybe that was done as a means of artificial longevity, which is even worse actually.) I still plan to give Izuna 2 a chance someday though.

Izuna 2 has a lot more variety and it focuses on a larger number of smaller dungeons.

This week has been awful. First and foremost, I'm sick. Trying to teach when you're too sick to feel like doing anything but not sick enough to justify using your precious few sick days is basically the worst thing ever (after teaching hungover; only made that mistake once and learned my lesson). It's so spirit week since Homecoming is this weekend, and that's normally cool (I got to wear my TMNT tshirt to work today since it's "Superhero Day"), but it just so happens that there's some major shit going down in the bad parts of town with long-time family feuds coming to a head. There have apparently been parents that started fighting in one of the county's middle schools, and we've had five fights in three days here (I helped break up three of them and got a bitchslap to the face for my trouble). I also have to drive the hour back to Raleigh this weekend to pick up my suit for my friend's wedding next month because they fucked up my size the first time and didn't stock that suit in that size when I went down there last weekend about it.

tl;dr it's been a bad week for Elkin

:P : Today sucked at work had 3 1/2 feet of ads to deliver all of which were addressed as opposed to the standard sales paper which you can just toss in every active none commercial box. The weather was utter shit with constant downpours and I forgot to put a towel in the car so I was soaked most of the day :P. There were also so many packages that I had to make a second trip to the post office a the end of the day to pick up a second load packages. Then I had the joy of my tailgate handle snapping off with around 20 packages left in the back so I had to climb over my seat to find stuff for the last two hours of my route :P. As is pretty much usual now I worked for free for the last 3 hours of my day since we don't get paid past 4pm :P.

:D : Didn't think I would be able to find a rear latch replacement in time for work Saturday, but luckily while Napa, Advance Autoparts, Autozone, and etc. don't carry them Oreily's does and has them at pretty much every store with 4-5 being pretty close by. Sucks that it's a $45 part, but at least I can get it replaced without having to wait for something to ship in from online. I just hope it's metal there is a $33 one that is clearly plastic but the $45 one looks like steel since I open up my rear door about 20+ times per day when working I really need something that will hold up to constant usage.

Hang in there, Elkin! Hopefully you get unsick soon and people stop being dumb.

:( Next week is when I go for a gum graft. It's not super serious or anything, but it needs to be done. Really not looking forward to it since it just means pain, being uncomfortable, and not being able to eat solid foods for a week or two. I'm probably going to also be super stressed and anxious during and after the surgery, so it's going to be fun :|

I've been hovering between having the best semester ever and the most busy semester ever. On the bad side, I've had to hop around all sorts of classes really quickly after I found out that I was way too much in over my head with the Japanese classes I picked at the start of the semester. I've never jumped into a class after it started before, and I've had to do that with half of my class-load this semester, so that's been very stressful. Additionally, with the programming class, two literature classes, and a 4th year Japanese course, I may only have 14 credits this semester, but this is definitely the busiest semester I've ever had.

On the bright side though, this is by far the most social I've ever been at college. I've actually gone to two clubs, and actually intend to go back to at least one of them next week. I've also actually made some new friends, and gotten much closer to an older acquaintance, so that's been so totally awesome! (I think one of the female friends I made might even like-like me, and we're partners for the midterm project! ). Has left barely any time for gameses, but that hasn't been so unbearable.

I also had the happy discovery today that I may be actually able to graduate on time or even early! I've been thinking I'd have to do 9 or even 10 semesters to graduate, but after doing a graduation audit earlier today, I'm actually much closer to having everything I need than I thought. Which is kind of good, but also kind of really scary. The end of college has been this amorphous thing that's been this undefined distance away for so many years. I mean, it's still 3 or 4 semesters away (including this one), but it's still very scary to think about :(

Technical report at work is done (or mostly so). With a day to spare. Whew! Very happy about that. I also know a ton more about LIDAR than I did before. Hopefully we'll get to play with some in the future on our UAVs.

Been going to a worship service for post-college folks (20s and 30s) on Thursday nights, and it's been pretty awesome. Might volunteer at some point to do some singing. I managed to pull off vocal team in church, so I figure that's not too big a step at this point. ;)

:) : Picked up my Pokemon Keldeo plush from Toys R Us.

:? : They sure made me work for it. It was (supposed to be) the first day of release. The internet said it was in stock. The associate I called beforehand said they had plenty in stock. Got to the store, shelf has nothing. Asked an associate, they said it should be on the shelf. Asked them if they would check for me, they said if they had any, it would be on the shelf. Asked the same thing of a different associate (one standing in front of a computer), they gave the same answer.

Okay then.

Went online, found plush, chose 'pick up in store' option that was available for current location. Internet said one-hour wait time. Left store to go elsewhere. Forty-minutes later, *ding!* You've Got Mail! Back to the store I go. Waited ten minutes for someone to get item out of the back room (the poor Service Center worker had to call them, like, four times). Oh, lookie, they found a Keldeo. Fancy that.

*makes a mental note to trust no one and just use Pick Up In Store option in the future*
