agh HGL. I just watched the remake of Wizard of Gore with Crispin Glover. It was surprisingly good.

O-Bi, O-Ba The End Of Civilization. One of the best post-apocalyptic movies of all time. If Hollywood were to taint this masterpiece by remaking it, it'd cost them millions and the effect wouldn't be the same at all.

Scanners. A total crapfest. At least it had eery synth music, but little else of worth.

The oringinal is pretty sick, in more ways than one. And in the film Juno, an HGL vs Argento debate is dissolved and Juno admits that WoG is "better than Suspiria", though I personally disagree.Snickerd00dle wrote:i have not seen the original or the remake yet, but once I catch the first one, you know I will be watching the remake for that C-Glo actionnoiseredux wrote:agh HGL. And the remake... is one of the best str8-2-DVD horror films I've seen in a long time and ranks alongside the likes of Laid to Rest and REPO!.
It's also a much different animal than the original. For one, the plot is more intricate.

Argento makes me so mad. He's got such an amazing understanding of color and cinematography. But he ultimately doesn't make movies as good as he should. Except Opera. Opera is amazing. And Suspiria is mostly good. But I've seen AT LEAST a dozen of his other films and all of them let me down.

BTW, I always preferred Blood Sucking Freaks to Wizard Of Gore.

Wait, you didn't like the head explosion and twisted tale of psychic warfare starring Michael Ironside? We're done here.Pulsar_t wrote:Scanners. A total crapfest. At least it had eery synth music, but little else of worth.

Scanners is fantastic. Cronenberg is great, and I'd rate Scanners pretty up there in his filmography. My number one is Videodrome, followed closely by Rabid.Ack wrote:Wait, you didn't like the head explosion and twisted tale of psychic warfare starring Michael Ironside?
