Random Thoughts Thread
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Am I the only one who tries to recruit new Racketboy members after I do a local craigslist trade?

So I just grabbed my mail and received something using a Yobo NES light gun box as shipping protection.
Here on Amazon for those not familiar with its appearance.
On the back it says:

Yeah, that's what I've always read. I just started playing it last night, I have the first level 99% done. I've always been a big fan of the first one, so I think my opinion will be flawed against the second. It wont be able to replace the first one in my heart, as good as a game it might be.Ack wrote:The second one is usually considered better than the first.
I like how they did away with the limited distance view of the first game, and they even give you a rechargeable flair gun to light up dark areas if you wanna. I don't think the game feels as smooth as the first one though. It feels like you don't run as fast or something. And when you're running or turning, it feels choppy in comparison to the first one.
I'm playing with one of those new Gamecube-like joysticks, which are a little more sensitive then the real joysticks. I was able to turn the sensitivity down in Turok 1 and match the feel of a real stick. But I'm having trouble getting a good feeling with it in Turok 2. I'm having a real hard time aiming.
Any way, I've always loved the first one, so I'm probably too biased when it comes to the second one. I think they should have kept more sound effects from the first game, maybe even the under water music as well. It would have given it a better feeling, in my own opinion. Like, bridging the games together.
Ah, that's a shame. I'll still probably give it a shot though... some day. It's not really high on my list anyway.Ack wrote:Avoid the newest one though. Turok...it's just not good. I've beaten it on PC, and it falls into a major trap: dinosaurs are easier to kill than humans because you can auto-kill them with a button press. I seriously survived an onslaught of 30 velociraptors by tapping a button over and over.

My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
