Sad as it may be that my twin has left, I actually thought he was already gone before he came into the thread today. At least he made it official instead of leaving silently like so many do.

And I agree that the lifeviews held by the various mods here are not threatening to any members who disagree with them. And if that were to become a problem, I'm sure the other mods would step in.

I've seen more "this is my last post" and "goodbye threads" on this forum than any other forum I have ever frequented. Yet at the same time it feels so lax here. Weird.

Because when people leave other forums they just simply disappear unless they're an attention seeker.

I think the reason is that people here get to know each other after a while, since the number of members who post on a daily basis is rather small (about 100, I'd say) despite the thousands of people who are technically part of the site. So when they leave, they want to let those whom they've gotten to know what's going on. I'd also say that people here probably take disagreements more personally than on most other forums, once again due to the small size of the community.

I didn't want to post in this thread, but with bone's comments I feel at this point it's at least somewhat appropriate.

Earlier in the thread, Mjmjr essentially stated that consensual homosexual sex is equivalent to raping children and murder. I found that genuinely offensive and it really bothered me. Even if your point was only to demonstrate that you believe sin is not weighted, I don't think it was necessary to use such extreme examples.

If I were going to leave over something, a comment like that might push me.

There's little reason for me to say anything else. I think as far as viewpoints and arguing has gone, Mr. Popo, Dshiemem, Flake, etc have all argued far better than I ever could have.

Also, don't leave Bone. I like ya man :(

That's what I'm counting on...

Although with my luck I'm sure the first thing I will encounter is anti-matter...

Exactly...

Another question I would like to see answered is this. Those Christians who are against homosexuality, are they against it simply because the Bible says so?... Would they still be opposed to it if there were no such thing as the Bible?... In other words, do they personally think homosexuality is bad, and if not, does that not clash with their beliefs?...

To Dave's point about proof of a biological link. Is there not the same proof to biological links to pedophilia. I don't know if there is or isn't proof on either, I know some believe there is proof. My question to you, those who believe in biological proof, so then anyone whom is biologically prone to pedophilia, or sociopathic murder should be condoned? That is the argument you are making, from my perception of that argument. We can't disagree with something if we see a biological reason for it? So we can't disagree with the act of pedophilia?
I'm done debating, i'm sorry i've offended people, truly. I knew the potential existed, so this probably should've been debated in PM's, maybe, dunno.

I do wish when using something so strong, that you would quote. Nothing makes my stomach churn worse than the idea of child rape, so I assume this is the quote you are referring to, not sure, but it would be best to quote something like that.

Again, sorry to have hurt feelings.

I don't think you've been offensive at all, and I don't think you should apologize for your beliefs. You've been very respectful and tolerant of other people's beliefs. All you did is try to explain yours and why you believe them. The same way I did, you've voiced your beliefs and your views on them with backing from the Bible as to why you believe these things. These are things we should NEVER be ashamed for, you should be proud that you've found salvation.

If anything, I believe others have been more intolerant of Christian beliefs in this thread than there has been any intolerance of homosexuality. I mean, I don't recall us ever calling anyone threatening just for having personal beliefs different than ours.

And heck, that was as bad as it got. I think everyone has been pretty dang respectable to everyone in this thread, especially considering the controversial subject matter, and religion being discussed.

Seems kind of logical that intolerant people have less problems with tolerant people than vice versa...

I agree. I didn't think the thread would make it to this many pages. There might have been a few touchy moments, but I don't even think those could qualify as 'heated.' Sure a few people got passionate, but I think everyone was pretty respectable. This thing had the potential to crash and burn within the first 5 pages, but it didn't. I'm impressed.
