I have not played the SNES port, but the GBC version is
excellent. It adds a lot to the original; it has "quick saves", and it is portable. (Also, it is in English.) It is my favorite 8-bit RPG, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Well the SNES version has a fan translation and I don't really care about portability because I would be playing it on the Gameboy Player. I'm playing the SNES remake of DQII at the moment and I'm curious if there is enough in the GBC port make up for what I assume is a big graphical downgrade(from SNES to GBC as it's based on the SNES one.)
Some others I'm curious about:
FFV, FFVI, Tactics Ogre: MotBQ

Play FFV on GBA. The translation is bad in the PS1 and fan translated SNES versions. Plus, extra stuff.
Can't help with others.

What about vs the NES version(which I can't say much for since i haven't made it that far yet) but it was officially released for NES

What about the SNES SF and GBA versions of Tales of Phantasia? (I know it has some reproduction carts at my local-ish retro store for SNES, and I've only played the gba version and know some say it was butchered in translation but never really bothered to look it up XD)

I never caught on the Spyro craze. I will pick one from the 3 games, but which should I play?
Or was it just amazing at the time it was out?

From everything I know the first 3 games are the best, and from what I remember of playing one of them(haven't managed to get my hands one the games yet) it was great. But to be honest the gba games are good too but just not as good as the originals. Definitely would get the first 3 a go before trying the gba games...

I was always under the impression that the PSX version was preferred out of them all.

It is for most, and last I checked they are great, and better than the gba games(since gba does the isometric hack to be able to semi-make a 3d platformer on a handheld). But in my opinion the gba games aren't as bad as most claim....

I am thinking about playing through Final Fantasy Tactics. Should I play Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1) or its remake Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions (PSP)? What are the differences (other than cosmetic differences) between the two games? Will I be missing anything critical by skipping to the PSP port/remake?
