And you keep getting told to 'shoot the core'.
Sounds like a SHMUP to me, just with a different presentation.
yeah no, I know.. I guess it's just the fact that it's an over-the-shoulder view of a person and they can't fly. I don't know.
It doesn't really matter in the end. It's an awesome game either way. Haha.

elmagicochrisg wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoot_'em_upA "shoot 'em up", also known as a "shmup",[1][2] is a game in which the protagonist combats a large number of enemies by shooting at them while dodging their fire. The controlling player must rely primarily on reaction times to succeed.[3][4] Beyond this, critics differ on exactly which design elements constitute a shoot 'em up. Some restrict the genre to games featuring some kind of craft, using fixed or scrolling movement.[3] Others widen the scope to include games featuring such protagonists as robots or humans on foot, as well as including games featuring "on-rails" (or "into the screen") and "run and gun" movement.[4][5][6] Formerly, critics described any game where the primary design element was shooting as a "shoot 'em up",[4] but later shoot 'em ups became a specific, inward-looking genre based on design conventions established in those shooting games of the 1980s.[5]
When I was younger games like Smash TV and Contra were called shoot'em ups. No problem...

Got Muchi Muchi Pork/Pink Sweets in the mail the other day. Such great games. I cannot decide which one I enjoy more.
Both games are far from normal Cave fair. After months of non-stop Mushihimesama Futari, these games are a whole new world of hurt.
Its taking me a while to adjust to Yagawa's playstyle, with things like secret powerups and heavy rank, but playing Pink Sweets has made me want to hunt down a copy of Battle Garegga even more
Also, Espgaluda 2 should be arriving either today or tomorrow. I will be playing these games for quite a while, and making very slow progress

What SHMUP are you playing now?
RECCA
...now where is the thread for which SHMUP will you never play again?
First response:
RECCA
I can certainly appreciate the intense action and the fact that a game was developed to move that amazingly fast w/no slow-down on an console released 25 years ago. With that said, I can't beat the first board. I can't last 90 seconds. I hate that game.

Really? man, I have been dying to try that one too. That is too bad.
I have heard such good things about it. Sounds really tough, I have heard Pink Sweets compared as a modern remake of Recca
