Obviously I've kind of disappeared this week.
So far the new job is pretty good. A bit more warehouse-esque than I had in mind (and there's several people I kind of knew from the place I worked at in 2009 that are here, haha), but this place is so much more laid back it's hilarious. People just stopped working and put down orders earlier today to eat some awesome eggrolls this girl made. People just walk around to different stations whenever they want. Casual wear. Drinks are allowed, any non-alcoholic so you can have soda and stuff. Don't need to get permission to go to the bathroom. No mandatory overtime. etc...
I just say all this because that's what my job in 2009 was like. This lady I spoke with yesterday who just came from there said it best, "felt like I was in a sweat shop". Big brother is watching you there. People picked favorites and had groups worse than jr. high. Pay was complete ass. Had to wear business wear for WAREHOUSE work. Needed permission to leave your station to poop. It goes on and on. lol, also most of the people I worked with in 2009 that are here as well, I never even spoke to at my old job... but here I've already talked to all of them a lot and it's awesome. The place is just so more relaxed and homey or something.
So this place is paradise in comparison. They actually give out raises too. Some older woman I spoke with said she's gotten three raises in two years, and you get bonuses pretty easily too, and one year she got $200 for an attendance bonus alone.
So this is all great. But I'm so beat, haha. It sucks I'm still kind of sick with a cold, so I'm coughing my lungs out all night and not getting a lot of sleep. So yeah can't wait to feel better and get THAT MONEY!

I've had that exact same problem before. It's something to do with DirectX. I remember looking for the file online to see if I could download it and stick it where it needed to go to fix the problem. Unfortunately I don't remember if it worked. haha But maybe you could try that. The Last Horseman wrote:I get this when I try to play "A Fistful of Cows" (indie game)
The program can't start because d3dx9_42.dll is missing from your computer.
Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
I guess I just need to reinstall? I don't feel like redownloading it...

Thanks! But this sick crap has got to go away! Damn it's been since last Friday, ugh!!! Finally just took some claritin D last night and thankfully it didn't wire me and keep me up all night... I could finally BREATH and then sleep. My throat is looking redder and redder.
Can't wait to have the money in the near future to actually go to the doctor for junk like this. This is definitely more than just my allergies acting up.
I hate how I never had bad allergies until a few years ago as well. That happen to anyone else? No change in environment (where you live or whatever), but bam all of a sudden you have insane allergies once a year.

I'm glad you like your job, Xeogred!
I just filled out my background check to work at Turner and read through all the benefits info they sent me. If I can get corporate discounts with places like Delta, I might actually try to make it to some of these meetups you kids keep having. Oh man, I can't wait for Monday.

Her parents found their old NES and 2600 when getting stuff out for Christmas. The NES has Lolo 1 and a dozen random common games, while the 2600 has two controllers and Combat. Guess what we are doing the day after Christmas when I get up there. Her dad has already started talking crap about how great he is in Combat (even though he hasnt played it in 25 years).Ack wrote:Have I told you lately how awesome your girlfriend is? Through the internet, Majors suggested I needed a Viewlix cab, to which she replied "Not that kind, to angular, lets get one of those" and she pointed at one of the Astro City's in his picture. Then she discovered Tating and said we will have a 32inch tated LCD with arcade sticks permanently hooked up in the home office until we can get a proper Candy Cab.

Check it out:BurningDoom wrote:3RD FREAKING TIME I'VE TRIED TO BUY THIS!!!!
First time it was a trade on Craigslist and the guy never showed (and the person I talked to that I initially thought was the person, turned out to be a hooker. True story.) The last time I went through Amazon.com and got a refund for it 2 weeks later with 0 explanation even after sending an email asking why. And I just got a refund from Half.com because "Item Lost".
I REALLY WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME!!! But for some reason God doesn't want me to.
