So what have you guys been watching lately?
Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
Eventually Markies you'll discover that some of them are awful due to terrible childhoods or severe mental illness. I really enjoy You're the Worst, but having gone through some of what they go through in the show, I had to stop watching. It became too...personal in a way, and painful to see them make mistakes that I've made. Yes, they're way over the top with those mistakes for the sake of entertainment, but I still relate to them quite a bit.

Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
I know the main girl is in therapy because that was mentioned in the series premiere.
But, thank you for the context of the show!
Since I hadn't seen the first 3 seasons, I didn't know any of the details. But, that makes a ton of sense and I'm beginning to understand the characters much more. As a Psychology graduate, I find them quite fascinating to watch and I see how painful it must be for you.
Surprisingly, some of the moments have been very poignant. I've been in love and I was utterly destroyed, so I feel many of the same things they feel. I may not act like they did, but I have similar feelings and understanding of what they are going through.
I don't watch much television anymore, but for some odd reason, I've gotten into it. I'll see if I continue with it or if it will become too much. Also, I might be playing a better game at the time, so I might just completely forget all about it.

Star Trek: Discovery
Seal Team
The Brave
Space's Deepest Secrets
How the Universe Works
Unearthed
I also watch Law&Order: SVU on USA Network, because it is a good show and it is ALWAYS airing.

I reviewed The Good Place recently in this thread. Check out my full review a few pages back.
Short version: it's good. I recommend it.

No lie. My mom flips channels just looking for SVU because she knows it's always on one channel or another.Sano wrote: I also watch Law&Order: SVU on USA Network, because it is a good show and it is ALWAYS airing.

The Worst Witch on Netflix, which kinda reminds me a bit of Harry Potter, whose books came out after TWW's books came out.
I really like it. It's a lot of what I like about Harry Potter but sadly not as engaging.
I did find it interesting that the headmistress, Miss Cackle, is played by the same actress who played...

Stargate SG-1. No, they didn't end it quite right, but it was actually supposed to end a few seasons before it actually did, before all the Ori stuff. And they did basically wrap it all up in a couple of movies.Xeogred wrote:Begs the question, which good sci-fi series was NEVER cancelled?

X-Files also falls into that never cancelled box. Yes, it combines some sci-fi, fantasy, and horror. I know I'm taking liberties. And I am an enormous fan of it. But it went on for more seasons than it should have. Once Duchovny left, it should have wrapped.

Agent Moulder concealed himself from the FBI by moving to California and posing as an angst-ridden writer who sleeps with every young woman he meets.Ack wrote:X-Files also falls into that never cancelled box. I watched the first two episodes of Supergirl recently. I was expecting something better. This was just garbage. The writing is a thin Veneer of Condescending, sophomoric pseudo~feminism on top of conventional tropes and stock characters. The special effects would have looked impressive for a tv show fifteen years ago, but they look jarringly bad by modern standards. I'm looking at special effects that would earn a B+ in an undergraduate video production class. Overall, I cannot recommend Supergirl. Avoid.

Holy shit, Sean Astin looks like Patton Oswalt in Stranger Things 2. Long way from rudy or Mikey from goonies lol. Enjoyed season 2 though.

Revisiting Glee on Netflix. Love! This! Show! Currently on season 4, when Rachel and Kurt moved to NYC (lucky!) and totally should have gotten their own spinoff but didn't.
Oh, and sometime ago I micro-bingewatched Lost in Oz on Amazon Prime Video. While not as deep as the likes of Adventure Time or Steven Universe, it does a brilliant job at world building, creating an Oz both familiar and new with a gorgeous style. With likable heroes and wicked villains, all cosplay-worthy and oozing a unique style, this show is SO worth having Amazon Prime Video (even for just long enough for a binge). Easily one of the best adaptations of the Oz books.
In it, Dorothy finds a journal belonging to her mother that sends her to Oz, where she meets giant munchkin Ojo and West, a gothy witch whose mother is old friends with Dorothy's mother. In an effort to find one of each of the magics in Oz to send her home, Dorothy teams up with Ojo and West and run afoul an amateur wizard named Fitz and the witch Langwidere, while also finding out more about the Gale family's connection to Oz and the fate of its ruler, Glinda the Good.
