They're quite similar but at least GTA tries to improve their game even it's at a minuscule level. COD almost literally copies and pastes new installments. And even if you don't agree with any of that stuff, at least Rockstar respects their franchise enough not slap a new game out every single year.graffix_13 wrote:How are the GTA games any different than the COD games?

I dont get why people look at sequels for video games as the same as movies. Video game sequels are supposed to be similar to their predecessor, it's the entire reason why people want them in the first place

The graphical advancement in the COD series between MW1 and Black Ops 2 is quite insignificant. More hardware savvy/graphics-obsessed people might even call it practically nonexistent. The last FPS game that really pushed graphics forward was Crysis in 2007ninjainspandex wrote: btw compare the graphics of COD4 to Black Ops 2, its a pretty big jump .

pretty sure that first one is on PC and the second one is on console. COD 4 sure as hell doesn't look that good on my xbox haha.noiseredux wrote:^that 2007 game looks better than the 2012 game to me.

You know, I can understand where you're coming from, I really can. It's more refined than 3 but it's nowhere near the jump San Andreas was. The thing is, for me, the setting carries it. I absolutely love the style of Vice City.Luke wrote:
The story is forced, and all the game adds are a few new rides and flash (woo-hoo! I can change clothes!). It tries too hard and fails. The boat missions? Have there ever been worse missions in a GTA game? You can complete a mission and then "splash"...dead meat. It's so entrenched in trying to be a Scarface knock off that the story overrides the gameplay, and the gameplay is the weakest in the series.
If you haven't, you should really play Vice City Stories. It's pretty much Vice City but refined and with a much better story. I'll happily admit that Stories has 1000x better missions. I haven't played the PS2 version but VCS definitely wasn't as vibrant and nice looking though so there's that.
Anyways, the original Vice City is the one I played first (my first GTA game in fact) and played the most of and so I guess I just hold a very special place in my heart for it. I'm sure if I were to go back and play both and try to remove myself from that emotional connection, I would much prefer Stories, and probably San Andreas, to the original Vice City.
Older. Not wiser.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I totally get why people love the VC story line, it's just that I don't care for it. The entire 70's Gangster theme didn't do it for me. To me it was "same game, same flaws, new characters".RyaNtheSlayA wrote:quote]

I can also see why some people don't like GTA SA, which I adore. I loved the "protect your turf" and "this time you be getting jacked" aspect. Again, I played it on the PC with my own music mix, so that changed a lot. SA was like a LA riots simulation, something only a video game could bring to a white kid from the burbs.
That in mind, BULLY was an excellent game, but I didn't connect with it.
No other way to put it than when I play(ed) SA, I felt like I was CJ.
