Yeah, the only unknown is If the random Pokemon encounters have a battle mechanic or is just the Pokemon go style of catching. Trainer and gym battles are done like the traditional style.

I missed that on my first watch too XD The battle UI is so small that I totally missed it watching the trailer on my phone, so I can't blame you for thinking it wasn't there anymore XD

Joe & Mac (the arcade version) for sale tomorrow on the eShop. Alright purchased my copy. Also, Ninja Combat arrives tomorrow too, just in time for our beat 'em up month. Loving the Switch "Virtual Console."
The ACA from Hamster has been almost too good of a treat. They're spoiling people rotten to the likes that Nintendo hasn't given since the first half of the original Wii VC's life when the quality and quantity pleased so many. They have SNK, Nintendo, Irem, Data East and more throwing games at them to pump out as it is so far. Far better environment, good solid selection of original dipswitch options and more, very fair pricing too. It's why I've said for awhile I'm glad the VC appeared to be dead and then again when it was confirmed as such as we're really missing out on nothing given the VC track record for most of its existence. The trade off is far nicer.
I have been loving Ikaruga and Fallen Legion on Switch so far. And in just a few days Blazeblue will be here and tomorrow SF30th! Man, my Switch is busy and yeah I want that SNK Ninja game.
I didn't expect it, but I am really into Pokemon quest. I am over half way through the game and there are no signs of me stopping. I've gotten great luck in what Pokemon I've recruited and what moves they learned, getting an onix with rock throw and a pinsir who I had to retrain his moves to get close combat. Those two are absolute power houses that are decimating everything in their path.
I have had no desire to pay money and haven't found the energy system to be abusive as I can spend time loading out my characters and doing training or planning. Plus, with it being on the switch, it is super easy to go, "I'll spend an hour or two playing something else on switch until it recharges" and I'm back in the game while whittling down my back catalog.
I am surprised also as to how the automovement of your team is not.a hindrance at all. They do a good job of keeping their formation and very few times have they been put into a corner I couldn't get out of.
The moves and how you upgrade them are quite varied in their spacing and effectiveness, plus the buff/debuff abilities are super helpful! Pokemon have roles that fit real well in a team dynamic and it is great to test out new strategies and Pokemon. I am having a blast and I really wasn't expecting it. Even when I have to grind I am enjoying playing around with different Pokemon and their moves.
I'm very very surprised.
