Switch Discussion Thread
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
As someone who played Pokémon Go for a while and enjoyed it, that looks just awful. The only reason to play Pokémon Go is it for you walking around outside, exploring the real world. The gameplay mechanics of swiping to catch Pokémon were not the reason people played it; they were the reason people stopped playing it.
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
I've been playing Pokemon Go with my kids/wife since November. We are just missing about 7 Pokemon from the Kanto region. They are going to eat this up. I foresee several Pokeball Plus stocking stuffers in my future. Knowing Nintendo, I'd better get them preordered ASAP.fastbilly1 wrote:Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu/Eevee is Pokemon Yellow in 3d for the Switch with Pokemon Go like capturing, Pokemon Go integration, and couch coop. Re: Switch Discussion Thread
Reading up it's like a remake/master gross tweaking of Pokemon Yellow. That is a favorite of mine so I'm on board with this. I don't mind the Pokemon Go mechanics, I still turn it on every day.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
Let's Go looks pretty neat! Not something I'm particularly interested in, but I think it's something that has the potential to do absolutely gangbusters. I don't think I'd buy it myself, but I'd definitely give it a go at a friend's place if they had it.
Pokemon Quest on the other hand looks like a 2018-remake of those old Pokemon Rumble World games with how simple they play, so I can't say I'm terribly interested in that one at all at least from watching videos of it so far.

Well, that's disappointing. I don't like the redesign for Red either. He looks like a generic "youngster" trainer you would normally be fighting against.
I guess we'll see how it shapes up.
Many of the youtube commenters seem certain that this is a spinoff and that something else will be coming in 2019. Wonder where they're getting that idea. Seems to me this is exactly what was announced a few months back; a full 3d pokemon for Switch. Folks may not like it, but here it is.
EDIT:
So apparently there was indeed an announcement for a core game coming out next year. Perhaps next time I'll be sure of information like that before I flap my big mouth.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
I think this looks pretty dope, and it's not surprising. They usually release a core game, a "secondary" game (Ultra Sun/Moon, Black/White 2, Platinum, etc), and a remake. Fans had been speculating since the Switch was announced that the first Pokemon game for the system would be an HD remake of Diamond and Pearl, so this is pretty much what we expected except a different region and a Pokemon Go tie-in.

I'm all in on the Pokemon game. Couch co-op, remake of yellow. People can complain about the Pokemon go catching style but it is infinitely better than, "Push button." Game still features the Pokemon combat system, so it just adds a more interactive way to catch them. I'm fine with that.

I'm right beside you on the hype for this one, but we should clarify that while the games are based on Pokemon Yellow's style and setting, they aren't actually outright remakes.BogusMeatFactory wrote:I'm all in on the Pokemon game. Re: Switch Discussion Thread
I'm fine with a simplified remake of 1st gen with a revamp on Pokemon catching. Catching Pokemon is actually something special apart from battling now. It's not like wild Pokemon battles were previously some grand mechanical or technical feat, so I don't really feel any love lost for the old method.ElkinFencer10 wrote:I'm right beside you on the hype for this one, but we should clarify that while the games are based on Pokemon Yellow's style and setting, they aren't actually outright remakes.BogusMeatFactory wrote:I'm all in on the Pokemon game. Do we know if it's possible not to throw your hand to try and catch them? I just don't remember seeing how the game plays in handheld mode in the trailer, and I have to imagine that kind of throwing of the joycon would be a bit dangerous in handheld mode

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
My mistake on my impressions. I thought the Pokemon Go mechanics were replacing the entire battle system! With battles still in place that's a different story.
