Nintendo has two advantages Sony didn't have with the Vita that will help against mobile:

1. Nintendo 1st and 2nd party exclusives. Even the WiiU was nominally saved by this. Zelda: BotW is a great example of Nintendo creating a true killer exclusive.

2. Removable Joy Cons and TV output. As much as I think the system is truly a portable and not a console-replacement, even big portable fans sometimes want to sit in front of a TV or other stationary screen. And being able to use the controllers connected or detached is a big deal.

Sony just doesn't have those memorable exclusive series the way Nintendo does, and with the Vita there wasn't enough to distinguish the hardware from a more traditional mobile platform.

That is definitely a big proprietary plus.

However this one I'm not so sure about. For example; I can easily output to my HDTV from my smartphone, and use a bluetooth controller in tandem. This sort of mobile functionality is becoming more common. This is why I don't think that aspect is as unique to the Switch as Nintendo would prefer it to be.

Streaming from my phone to my TV seems really laggy, though.

There is something to be said for having the whole package together, rather than having to combine two or three things that you buy separately.

Wireless connection tends to be laggy, though for plenty of games it wouldn't especially matter.

Still, the dock-ability of the Switch is (or will soon be) a moot point for comparisons to other devices. It uses USB-C for that, which aside from being a very capable interface, is far from being Nintendo tech. Right now I think most of the USB-C "docks" are targeted at things like Macbook Pros, and have the ports (and price tag) to fit that. Newer phones are using it though, and I think we'll start seeing docks aimed at phones or tablets within the year.

Regarding exclusives, I think it's less that Sony doesn't have any - they publish a fair amount of stuff - and more that their hardware sales in the U.S. don't make Vita-only games logical here.

It's that old paradox of how to make it worth producing games for a console no one owns to make it worth buying the console in the first place :P

Whatever the default "Cast" option is with Android in the drop-down menu. To be fair, I haven't sunk a ton of time into optimizing things.

Didn't realize Zero Escape: The Nonary Games is actually a port of Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors sweet :). So now I can have the complete trilogy on Vita and there is no excuse to continue playing on the 3DS which I hear has some nasty bugs :P.

Already beat 999 on DS with all the endings and will probably never play it again  . However it's cool that all the games are now on Vita.

But that's an important thing to consider for the average consumer. It's safe to say that we are far more invested in our hobby than someone who picks up a game system for a game that all his buddies have been talking about.
