Don't like it, but also agree with it as well. ON both parts of the 50/50 and the 90/10 splits. I wouldn't be surprised if they capped it anywhere between $300-400. They have to come in cheaper than a console, but also not too cheap as well. You need this odd middle ground on what is acceptable console pricing but also what a handheld tablet/tablet like device of similar power inside would go for or it'll look like a stupid ripoff.

I would too but look where the WiiU went so I wouldn't put it passed them. It definitely would be stupid, but still who knows. Given how powerful the Shield platform is in the similar-ish tablet or console format in to what Nintendo appears to be doing that would be a wise set price.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
Nintendo could sell a cardboard box containing nothing more than a picture of Miyamoto for $399, and I'd still probably buy it.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
I consider that just a little sad.
Seriously, I'd buy one if what I was been told and if the stories about it more or less are confirmed as much so. It's a handheld that has a dock so it can use a few added chips and a port to put out quality to the TV as well (like a non-bungled Neo Geo X.) Uniformity, one platform, no splitting resources, games just work and where and whenever you want. I'd do that, but had it been a straight up console -- hell no.
I'm willing to start putting some money away for this one and see how the months ride out as I'm really keen to see who is backing it since Nintendo has had good luck even into the 3DS getting third parties to put nice stuff on it I enjoy. With this whole android looking spinoff environment and talks of cheap/stupid easy ways to rapidly with minimal effort converting games to that platform it would make sense for third parties to get dollar sign eyeball action going on and just drop whatever on it to make a buck (download wise if not physically too.)

Re: NX Predictions Thread
Nintendo would find a way to make it great. They always do. Like Sarge said, even with the Wii U's flop, it's still a fantastic console with a wealth of good exclusive titles. Some Nintendo consoles are better than others, and some rely more often (or completely) on first party games, but (other than the Virtual Boy), Nintendo's never released a bad platform. That includes the Wii U.Tanooki wrote:I consider that just a little sad.

Agreed. I love my Wii U. It is such a fun system, and it has more good games than I will ever have the time to play.ElkinFencer10 wrote:Some Nintendo consoles are better than others, and some rely more often (or completely) on first party games, but (other than the Virtual Boy), Nintendo's never released a bad platform. Re: NX Predictions Thread
I wish I felt the same as you two, but no matter my love of their history in the grand picture, I think Iwata and his underlings as cool as that guy was for a CEO threw the company under the bus. The Wii started out ok but the loss of quality games and things to do its last 2 years, and then following up with the WiiU that was effectively DOA after 18months outside of first party support finished my feelings about them in such a way. I don't trust them anymore as a console maker and probably never will again to buy a console blind from the get go. Handheld sure, GB->3DS never let me down, but console I'm now a Nintendo fence sitter who would wait a year or two to see if they blew it again.
I'm not saying at all the WiiU had bad games, and to be fair I had more games on that WiiU than PS4 I really enjoyed a lot, and about an even amount of games (maybe +2 or 3 on PS4) but I liked using it for what it was intended and PS4 mostly has been a movie blu ray/streaming box. I'd be pissed but it only cost me $200 new due to my luck and dealings. If WiiU ran blu-ray, I'd swap the PS4 for it as the PS4 stuff outside of their own games I can get on PC in better shape.

One should not allow the torrent of shovelware on the Wii to obscure the treasure trove of incredible exclusive titles that the system had. Nintendo almost always wins the "Who has the best exclusives?" contest. PS4/Wii U is only time I'd say they didn't come out on top in that regard, and I'd call that fairly tied.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
NES & SNES days = I was in love with Nintendo. N64 & GameCube days, I lost a lot of fervor for their stuff. The Wii & DS made me fall in love with Nintendo once again. Then the Wii U and 3DS era has knocked my Nintendo love back down to barely a mild interest. So many wasted opportunities on both platforms it makes me sick. The NX is gonna make or break my relation with the company. (I guess there's always mobile though.)
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
