I felt the same way when I beat this early last year. the game isn't bad, just... more of the same and it felt like I was playing the exact same game, beat for beat even in the story.

All the talk of 3D Dot Game Heroes reminds me to move it to the "on deck" spot in my PS3 backlog after I finish off Arkham City.

Make better puzzles, more platforming.

My dislike is based on the fact that this is a shooter at heart. I went in expecting puzzle/platforming with a storyline. I got the storyline, but damn nothing but shoot-shoot-shoot.

If I would have known this in advance I probably would not be so hard on it. I will say this, when I am in the mood for shooting this game would rate an A++. So I amend my review, A+ for shooting, D- for adventuring.

Better review Mr. DS?

So, before I fire up part 3, do they add anything at all new to it?

If you want a challenge, I recommend the first Gameboy Mega Man game. I played through both Mega Man (GB) and Mega Man II (GB) last year, and while I walked through Mega Man II, clearing Mega Man gave me a very real sense of accomplishment.

I don't own the first Game Boy Mega Man, but I will keep an eye out for it. I do have part III so I may try that soon. Fun fact: the most recent Mega Man game I've played is 5 on NES. I should snag that 6th gen collection sometime.

I actually 1CC'd that game the first time I played it. I would have felt spectacularly ripped-off if I had paid more than a couple dollars for it, but since it costs less than most iPhone games, I don't mind keeping it in my collection. Moreoever, the "tilt the Wiimote to speed up or slow down" mechanic is at least unique.

I think I paid a grand total of $6 for Monkey King and its sequel Saint (which I have yet to complete).

I also 1 CC'd Monkey on the first try. The game is actually quite punishing if you lose a life, as you also lose all power-ups.

And on the topic of Uncharted 2, I didn't care much for it either. It's not bad by any stretch, that's just not a "genre" of game I enjoy.
