That was even disorienting to watch haha.

My first exposure with Doom was the PC version when I was like 5 years old. My neighbor had the mouse ball and everything. But yeah, even as a kid I couldn't stand the SNES port. Technically, I'm sure it's a bit impressive (and runs better than the 32X version I think?) But... fun wise? Eh. lol

The 32X version has its own problems such as missing textures and due to a rushed development only has 15 levels (and terrible, terrible music) but it looks and runs much better. If they would have spent more time on it they could have produced a half-decent port.

SNES has the complete game, but at the same time it's not actually running Doom at all. One of the most interesting aspects of Doom for the SNES and incidentally one of the reasons it's terrible is because it's a re-created version of the game in an entirely new engine that was built from the ground up.

The sad thing is, I've still sunk quite a few hours into the Doom SNES cart. I agree with the sentiment here though. It looks atrocious and plays like a civilian Hummer with a broken axle stuck in a mud pit.

But it will always sound awesome.

So funny how different the various ports are.

The 3DO version looks a bit slow too, but probably gets my vote for coolest music.

I remember the Saturn version being OK, but I haven't played it in years.

A pipe dream of mine is to do a series of videos highlighting Super Famicom RPGs-and-the-like that have completed fan translations. Thanks to this tremendous thread from BoneSnapDeez, I've got something to work with, although I think it would be a little extreme to cover absolutely everything (especially the PC-style RPGs that just have not aged well).

I really just want to hit the more popular titles (Treasure Hunter G, SaGa, Seiken Densetsu 3, Bahamut Lagoon) in addition to some good ones that people aren't as familiar with. I also want to tackle the ones based on popular anime series since shows like Sailor Moon have some substantial fan bases.

So, I'm wondering if this would be a decent list to break down into 3 or 4 videos? Not a lot of detail on each, just some footage and a description of gameplay and a brief synopsis of the story. Any I'm missing that you feel should be added? (Needs to have a completed English translation obviously)

Alcahest
Bahamut Lagoon
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: Another Story
Brandish 2: The Planet Buster
Chaos Seed
Chou-Mahou Tairiku Wozz
Dark Law: Meaning of Death

Romancing Sa-Ga 1-3
Rudra no Hihou
Seiken Densetsu 3
Shin Megami Tensei 1 and 2

I would add Der Langrisser, the Fushigi no Dungeon games, and the Popful Mail port. You might also consider mentioning Megami Tensei if..., Last Bible III, and the Majin Tensei series to appeal to the MegaTen fans.
