If you have a modded Saturn you can play episodes 2 and 3 in English:

I never got into the Shining games, or the Fire Emblem ones, but I am glad fans finally got this taken care of.

My Saturn gaming is going quite well, last night I was playing some Dodonpachi. Thanks to the likes of the SAturn and the PCE I got into shooters.

Welp, I just got the Saturn port of Waku Waku 7 after waiting 3 weeks for it to arrive in the mail, and I'd say it's a mixed bag. The game itself is a good fighter, no problems there, but as a port it kind of sucks. Breaking it down:
Pros:
-Lots of extras in the options and versus mode, which I'm not sure is a thing every Saturn fighter has.
Cons:
-Load times are very prevalent, which is weird as this game uses the 1mb ram cart.
-Backgrounds are chunky pixelated messes, like someone cut the resolution for them in half and then blew it back up to full size.

Current systems: Atari 2600[x2], NES(top loader), SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Saturn, Dreamcast, Playstation, PS2, PS2 slim, xbox, xbox 360, Turbografx-16, Game Boy Pocket, Game boy SP[x2], Nintendo DS[x2], Nintendo DSi, Nintendo 3DS, Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket Color, Wonderswan Color, Neo Geo MVS.

Many RAM cart games have longer loading times. They have to load more data to fill the RAM cart. The RAM cart is rarely used to shorten loading times. Most often it is used for extra frames of animation.Retrozoa wrote:Welp, I just got the Saturn port of Waku Waku 7 after waiting 3 weeks for it to arrive in the mail, and I'd say it's a mixed bag. I still love this game, though. It compares pretty well with the Neo Geo original.

Yeah, I did not like WW7 on the Saturn. Glad to finally get an MVS version of it, because the Saturn version doesn't even come close. Maybe it would have been better if they made the game for the 4MB cart instead of the 1MB, but regardless the version we're stuck with is too jank to bother with.Retrozoa wrote:Welp, I just got the Saturn port of Waku Waku 7 after waiting 3 weeks for it to arrive in the mail, and I'd say it's a mixed bag. You really think so? I played Waku Waku 7 emulated (and Neo Geo emulation has been pretty darn good for years) and I thought my Saturn version compared pretty well. What's off about it?the7k wrote:Yeah, I did not like WW7 on the Saturn. Glad to finally get an MVS version of it, because the Saturn version doesn't even come close. -Super Jaggy Low Res Backgrounds (this can be somewhat remedied with a mode found in the option menu but you sacrifice the game's camera zoom in feature).
-Loadtimes.
-Framerate dips and slowdown.

thanks for confirming this, 7K and CD. The load times were obvious but the gameplay itself felt disjointed after playing aes.
Re: How is your Saturn gaming going?
THIS is definitely the biggest problem - the background were ugly but that's livable and the loadtimes were something you could get used to, especially if you dealt with the NGCD, but framerate problems are a death sentence for a fighting game.CD AGES wrote:-Super Jaggy Low Res Backgrounds (this can be somewhat remedied with a mode found in the option menu but you sacrifice the game's camera zoom in feature).

What's really a shame is that Galaxy Fight was just as good as the MVS version if not better due to the CD quality sound. I don't know why they pulled that game off so well on the Saturn but completely dropped the ball on the game that they should have really put more effort into.

Yeah, Waku Waku 7 is a case of good game, bad port. It's a shame.
