I expect deadlock and ever rising tensions, unless the Republican Party decides to water itself down even more because they lost the election. As I see it, the sides are too far separated for either to be happy with a compromise. And on many issues, both sides have moral convictions they will not compromise on. If any politician says compromise these days it translates to me as "Do stuff my way." It looks like kids telling other kids they need to share.
But I've got post election pessimism.

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.
So, a day later, and Obama is announcing his intention to give you Americans the benefit of carbon taxes. Yay! For every plant you feed air to, you get to pay the government money! Just like we do in part of Canada already! Joy!
I don't know what this debate about Obama being born in Kenya or Hawaii was all about. Clearly he is the second US president from Canada.

Yeah, I saw that. I don't recall him bringing that up during his campaign.
Maybe we'll get the benefit of a Harmony tax as well!

Good thing he didn't bring it up, or else Romney very likely could have won and he might put a carbon tax in!

I agree. It's certainly more civil here than I've seen on other places. Some of my friends on facebook are pissed to a point I've never seen them before. I'm thinking about blocking them for a couple weeks so I don't have to read any more "how could you's" and "blah, blah, blah, country is ending" comments. I realize people react like that after every election, but damn. I wouldn't have been that upset if Romney had won. I'd be upset, sure, but it wouldn't have driven me into apocalypse mode.

Better solution would be to ditch Facebook entirely.

Don't try to force your nay-saying political viewpoint on me!
Explain to the Spanish guy: Does this mean Obama will be able to actually govern or can the Republicans keep shooting down everything because they control congress or another camera?
Because that sucks

Obama will attempt bolder (read: riskier to his approval ratings) things, but the Republicans in the House still control that branch and are going to continue to shut him down as much as they can. He's a lame-duck president in his second term, so expect disappointment. Even good presidents tend to disappoint in their second terms.
