I didn't get an answer in the "Game Acquired" thread, so I thought I'd try again here in case some people didn't see it:
I recently downloaded Zoda's Revenge off of Wii Virtual Console for 150 Club Nintendo Points (figured I better get what I can before Nintendo stops offering us regular Wii owners anything). So I was wondering:
Do I have to play Star Tropics in order to understand Zoda's Revenge (Star Tropics II)?

It would help to know what happened in the first game, but it's really not that necessary. Although, I would play the first game because It's better than Zoda's Revenge (gameplay wise) and you'll get a better experience out of it.

The story does continue from ST 1, but otherwise, everything is pretty much the same. Diagonal movement is a nice improvement in the sequel however. Even the interfaces are similar.

prfsnl_gmr wrote:Thanks. This is really helpful. I was leaning towards the slim and super-slim, but the backwards compatibility was appealing. I already have a perfectly functional PS2, however; so, given the issues with heat and noise, I think I will avoid the "fat" model.
My two cents since I had an issue with my PS3 not that long ago. I have the 60GB fat one. Backwards compatibility was my main reason in getting a PS3 back when it first came out. I was planning on selling my PS2 and some games to get some cash together to get some PS3 games. Of course I never did it but now I can't find my PS2 so...in the end the backwards compatibility is a life saver since my biggest game collection is my PS2 library. So you might want to think about it in case your PS2 dies or gets lost.
That being said...I did have my PS3 overheat. It's my fault for not cleaning it out for however many years it's been since I got it. So they do have heating issues and collect dust very well. But I don't think sound is an issue. I mean it's not silent but it's not like a jet engine.
I'v had mine since it first came out, got it new at Gamestop for Christmas. And in that time I'v moved it around, stored it in a box where it collected dust, never cleaned it more then wiping the outside off, but I still tried to keep it safe and take good care of it. I didn't toss it around or anything. So in all that time I'v only had one issue and it was fixed by just taking it apart and cleaning it.
The 60GB one might have heat issues but it's still a great one so don't count it out just yet.

No more heroes... PS3 or the Wii version?
Also No more heroes 2 is never going to be ported to the ps3 right?

I like Dragon Ball / DBZ enough to play one DBZ game, but not enough to play twenty DBZ games. If I only play one or two Dragon Ball / DBZ games, which ones should I play?
Re: Which Version Is Best?
Hey which versions are best?
Skate 1, 2, 3: I played some on the 360 side but since sold them, was gonna get them again but not sure which system it plays better on. I think I'd prefer the PS3 controller but wouldn't want to sacrifice for gameplay.

If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

If you want a game mor in the style of the anime where you can fly around try the budokai tenkaichi games on PS2/Wii. If you want a fighter more classic try the budokai games ( 3 or even infinite worlds).
I haven't tried the recent ones on the PS3 yet.
If you want something that isn't a fighting game i heard good things about legacy of goku 2 and boo's fury on the GBA. There's also a sidescroller DB game on the GBA (Dragon ball advanced adventure). There's also a beat em up game of DB for the Wii (Dragon ball revenge of king piccolo).
Here's a retrospective series on the games if you want to find others:

Bioshock and Bioshock 2.
I'm selling my 360, so I need to re-buy both of these. They're on sale on Steam right now, and being first person shooters I'm more inclined to get them on PC. But I don't know if the PC version of those two games have the DLC, which I know the "Ultimate Rapture Pack" on both console versions does. Especially for Bioshock 1, I would really like the DLC that added New Game Plus mode.

This has probably been covered but Dragon Quest III? (SNES vs GBC)
