And it's not exactly as if MS has been that great to Cave either, cutting down on "faithful arcade ports"...

There is currently no method available to legally or illegally play JP locked games on a US system. It's surprising how well protected the system is.
However, many US games are NOT locked, and are playable on a JP system.

Getting the Japanese console was indeed a good choice. I've had a blast with the games I got. Only difficulty is in guessing the menus, which are in Japanese on Shikigami III and Tetris Grandmaster. Thankfully, Raiden Fighters' menus are all in English. I am very glad to hear many more shooters are on the way for my import console.

"Also there are some rumors circulating that if Death Smiles on Xbox 360 does well that the 3 following games Mushihime Sama Futari , Espgaluda 2 and Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu would also recieve Xbox 360 ports."

I liked Trizeal, but it was admittedly average. Still, more shmups for 360...GODAMMIT.
Only a matter of time until I break down...

I've told a few friends that I am considering purchase of a Japanese 360. They always ask me why I just don't mod mine, and I have to explain Microsoft's ridiculously bullet-proof region coding. And I always have to throw in "that's what Sony did right this generation."Doctor Fugue wrote:There is currently no method available to legally or illegally play JP locked games on a US system. Death Smiles on the 360 will be vastly cheaper than on an arcade board. Hell, you can probably buy every shoot 'em up on the 360 and it would still be cheaper.

Re: Importing Xbox 360 for SHMUPS
Jump the initial speed bump of actually buying the import console, and soon after you will be glad you did. I have Raiden Fighters Aces, and Shikigami No Shiro III already for mine. I have Otomedius Gorgeous and Raiden IV pre-ordered already, and now there are a handfull of others being announced with more rumored on top of that. I'm not waiting around too long for these games to become scarce and expensive on the secondhand market like I did with Dreamcast and Playstation 2. I'm grabbing them as they are released, and fully intend to get full usage out of my import console. The time to jump on the bandwagon is now, as an import 360 console can be obtained for less than $300 now, if you go with the Arcade model. No sense regretting it later when prices on some of these games skyrocket on ebay. You know how that goes..
