Nes- just because I spent more time playing the it an any other console.

best looking console I'd go with the saturn.

easiest console to work on/repair, dreamcast.

Super Nintendo - for all the obvious reasons like nostalgia, game library, etc. Also, it was the first console I bought with my own money as a kid. I saved up for it for over a year collecting money.

The first console I bought with my own money (not counting an old NES me and my bro went half on at a flea market) was a GameCube back in '02. It was the day before the first day of the '02/'03 school year (my Junior Year) and I scored a Jet Black console, four controllers, two memory cards (the 59 block ones), and a few games (Luigi's Mansion, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Pac Man World 2), and a Luigi's Mansion game guide. I spent weeks saving up, which was easy cuz at the time, I started working at my Dad's job site (he does construction), toting lumber (mostly 2x4s), paid $7/hour. I mostly spent my time in the van playing my GBA (back when I had the old model) or reading game mags figuring out what games to get for the GameCube.

The second was the Xbox, the following year. I got the system, two controllers (wanted 4), two games (Spider-Man PH Edition and Midtown Madness 3; wanted to also get The Hulk, but put it back), and a memory card (that I had to put back). The story goes like this: again, I spent the summer working on another jobsite, still at $7/hour, and one day on a trip up the beach (slang for going up to the Nags Head/Kitty Hawk/Kill Devil Hills area), I put some stuff on layaway.

The next year was a DreamCast, refurbished off of EBgames. I also bought a few games (Crazy Taxi, Illbleed, Power Stone, and Soul Reaver) and a memory card.

Then the Saturn next year, off of eBay. It was $70something and came with an assload of games (including NiGHTS, Alone in the Dark, VF Remix, and Virtua Cop), two controllers and a lightgun. That summer I also scored more games (including Street Fighter Alpha) and a Virtua Stick. I also got some DC games (like Typing of the Dead AND the keyboard).

Then in 2006, me and my bro went half on an Xbox 360. He chose all the games (I wanted a variety, but HE wanted nothing but FPS games). He would later sell me his half of the system and his games.

And last year was the Year of the Wii. I only bought one game (Super Paper Mario) and the system. But a few weeks later, I'd have Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Resident Evil 4.

This year should be the Year of the PS3.

And FYI, the first video game I bought myself was Sonic 3 for the Genesis. I never cleaned my room, and thus never got an allowance. But... I still managed to score enough money to get the game when it came out.

Ugg this is like picking a favorite child. Hmmm well I cant pick a favorite but the ones I had the most fun with are

N64
Gamecube
Genesis

Really in no order.

i have to go with the genesis i was raised playing it and when i hear the words video games genesis is what i think of

I think I'd go with the Gensis model 2 with sega cd model 2. So many great games to choose from, and a wide range of shmups. The sega cd has so many wacky titles. I could definately stay entertained for next few years with just my genesis and sega cd library.

The Slim Ps2 would be second, mostly because of it's ps1 backwards compatability...and Ryan don't start talking about the Ps3 and how it can play both plus blueray and ps3 games...I haven't seen one game on the Ps3 that appeals to me as of yet and i am find with DVD. plus it's ugly.

Saturn & SNES are right behind that. Both with tons of great titles and ease of playing imports.

I am amused that most people are voting for the failing consoles as their best consoles. Most people said dreamcast, genesis, and saturn...all sega consoles, and to prove how much they are failures, sega QUIT the hardware business.
I know you will probably get mad, but by failure I mean FINANCIAL failure and sega quitting proves it. I know these systems were good consoles.

And out of the 3 consoles, the one that faced most failure was most voted for, the saturn.

as I looked into the web and asked a lot of question, I understood that saturn failed so much due to:
*complicated hardware design(still hard to emulate) and hard to develop for
*originally a 2d system facing 3d consoles(ps1-N64)
*i believe ps1 and N64 kicked its butt graphics wise
*few exclusives and rare to find+expensive today
* most games were either ported or have better sequels

As a matter of fact i was thinking of buying one, but responses on this forum actual made me
think it was not worth it after all

i am also amazed that the more successful consoles did not get the majority's vote including, ps1-ps2-and current wii-snes

I love many consoles, but I would have to say the PS1 tops the list for me. It has an amazing and robust library, with loads of unique titles. Almost fifteen years later, I'm still finding gems to play on the system.

You could only say that with a straight face if you strongly prefer the "all 3d polygon" style.

The average person is a sheep of average intelligence. (especially in the US) The people of this forum are not average. I don't listen to top 40 garbage music, I don't eat wonderbread, and I don't drink Miller Lite... not because they are popular... because whats popular is mediocre, most of the time. Its just the nature of the simple-minded average person!

Really? I don't think that's true at all. Pretty much every game I mentioned in my earlier post (with a few exceptions) hasn't had a port or sequel on another system.
