Hi, nice to meet you. I *despise* those games. Not intuitive, fun, and no redeeming quality whatsoever. I'm not a fan of rhythm/music games in general, but these definitely go to the bottom of the pile.

There, now you've met a single person who doesn't love them.

As for my contribution, I'd say there are a lot of launch titles that people seem to have forgotten. Polarium, Kirby's Canvas Curse, Yoshi's Touch and Go..all excellent games. Contact is a great hidden gem too.

Then you're not awesome enough to handle it. Ouendan games are completely badass, manly, and awesome beyond what you could comprehend. If you don't like Ouendan, then you suck at it. Stop sucking.

I'm into rhythm games myself (minus the GH/RB variety), but utterly dislike Ouendan. So make that two people ;)

I have to say this is indeed a good beat em up, and even though I played it I forgot mentioning it in the beat em up thread (I did remember to hype up the surprisingly good Jackie Chan game for the GBA though). Very nice gameplay with some "spells" in the force powers.

The Kirby game (Canvas Curse) is excellent but I'm surprised if it is "Hidden" - 1st party game and all, is it not popular?

I enjoy rhythm games, such as the Space Channel 5 games on the Dreamcast, Rhythm Tengoku on the GBA, even the Lupin the 3rd one for the PS1, plus I own peripherals for DDR 2nd Mix and Samba De Amigo on the Dreamcast, as well as Taiko no Tatsujin on the PS2.

That being said, I didn't care much for Elite Beat Agents. A friend gave it to me, I played it a bit, and I sold it on Amazon Marketplace. It just didn't do much for me. I would like to give the original Japanese version a try though.

oddly enough nobody has mentioned the one and only game that made me keep my DS for so long:

Giana Sisters DS

it doesn't just kick the Mario Brother's asses; it bbq's them and hands them to Bowser

if you want true oldskool platforming this is the one and only game you will ever need, period (yes that was a comma, but still ^^)

also Maple Story DS

not that we'll ever have an English release, but if the translation is getting anywhere, this will be a must-have for any DS-owner with self-respect (and a little love for platform/adventure/rpg's)

As Santa said, Giana Sisters DS.

I wrote a three part retrospective and review well worth a read if I do say so myself.

Part 1 - The Great Giana Sisters History and editorial

Front Mission. It's a great SRPG WITH ROBOTS WHICH MAKES IT AUTOMATICALLY 50 TIMES MORE AWESOME, but it seems to not have done so well in the US, as usual.

Both of the Shin Megami Tensei DS games, Devil Survivor and Strange Journey are great too. While I think Strange Journey is a better game, Devil Survivor is a better game for people to start with who have not played the series.
