Funny you should say this considering you were the only one who resorts to condescending remarks in your posts. Neither I or devilmyarse responded to you by saying "retardation comes pouring out your mouth" or "I don't tolerate stupidity". It's one thing to debate the qualities or lack of in a game, but if you don't agree with someone, trying to belittle them just makes you look like an ass and wastes everyone's time.Mozgus wrote:Every single thing you said can be applied to yourself and Flak Beard as well. Not just me. Try taking your own advice. If it works for you, I'll order some.
Anyway, I'm done here. Obviously every message board on the net requires there to be a resident douche bag, and it's clear you take the title on this one. Congratulations.
That me be the case but I don't recall ever bringing insults into my posts. At no point did I ever personally attack you or anyone, and never have done or ever will on this forum. The sheer fact that you attacked flak over a god damn game and his differing opinion shows your maturity, or lack of as the case may be. Just chill out and stop trying to 'win' everything.
Now can we please get back on topic?

What has better controls, Resident Evil 4 or Mario 64. Discuss!
Anyway, I love Mario 64, it was a benchmark for 3d gaming control in a platformer that took years to beat. I don't think any platformer controlled notably better until Mario Sunshine. Actually, I recently played DK64 and the control in that game is really tight, and the camera is good as well. But that game suffers from massive slowdown.....

The only reason the camera is different in Mario 64 than it is in any modern 3D game is the fact that you have to press buttons to move it around instead of a stick (such as the left analog stick of a PS controller or the C-stick of the Gamecube controller). I find that the camera in 64 is far more forgiving and will even clip walls sometimes whereas in Mario Galaxy the camera seems far more confined... I think my main complaint of the game is the lack of enemies in the wide open spaces, they relied too heavily on environmental dangers to fill the gaps of processing power.
Mario 64 was great, I don't have any mixed feelings about it. Maybe not perfect but nothing is. WJhatever small flaws it had however are overshadowed by how good it is.
RE4 I am more interested in hehe. I played 1, 2, and 3 all the way through while in college when I didn't have much choice on what I played. Good games, but both control and camera angle were not great. No strong feelings on these from me gameplay wise, 'cept camera which comes later in post.
To say one control scheme is better than another because it is more difficult doesn't make sense. You cannot fault the Wii reticule for being precise. If it makes it easier to kill zombies, then the zombies should be tougher to kill, your gun shouldn't be harder to control. As Mozgus said yes it is easier to get headshot, but that isn't totally relevant as not every headshot is a 1 hit kill (most aren't, especially on pro). If you want some kind of recoil system so you can't get pinpoint accuracy from 500 yards with a .45 I agree, however that is another topic as both reticule and laser pointer versions offer this precision.
I did not appreciate the camera angles on previous RE's because I never got any sense of ambiance. Sorry, the games didn't draw me in like that. Not being able to see what is RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY CHARACTERS FACE because the camera is in the uppermost farthest corner of the room is nothing but frustrating. If I am playing as Chris, I want to see what the fuck Chris is looking at around that corner so I can shoot it. "Well I hear something over there, let me plunge headfirst into the room and the monsters arms like a shitty horror movie instead of pointing my gun in and seeing what's there first." No fucking thanks. It always felt like nothing more than a cheap workaround to my own intelligence. FPS and over shoulder beat this.
Furthermore on RE4 Wii vs GC/PS2: Wii must be considered superior as it has everything the other versions have and much more. More weapons and levels and Ada missions, costumes etc. And if you prefer laser pointer (hold your breath) snap the Classis controller in and you got it! Alright yall prolly already knew that but I didn't for like 3 months till I looked at the back of the box hehe. Even though I prefer reticule, I was blown away they added Classis controller support. It works just like the previous versions, the reticule goes away and you got yer laser. Of course that's another $20 for that controller, but you can't fault the game for providing the option (and if you have a Wii and no classis, wtf is wrong with you
)
As far as Mozgus is concerned (I'll weigh in on all the threads topics hehe) he can definately come off an asshole. I have met many people who like to excuse their rudeness under the guise of frank or truthful but tactless pontificating. But there really is no reason to get butthurt about it as it isn't personal. You can tell him his opinion is really utter bullshit w/o worrying about moderation, cause I haven't seen him take anything personal yet. But to be honest he is pretty helpful if you ask, and he knows his shit and is generally spot on. Except his stupid fucking ideas about Resident Evils.

Let my legs shake me to sleep, and don't wake me when I sweat on my sheets.
Wyatt, don't take offense at my laziness, but I'm just going to cut and paste off the chat.
I don't know why all you guys have soooo much trouble with cinematic camera angles. I had far, far more trouble playing RE4 because of Leon's head and body constantly blocking about 30% of my view, and because of the forced letterboxes blocking, say, THE GOD DAMN BEARTRAPS I KEPT STEPPING ON. This means that compared to other REs, RE4 blocks at least 50% of the viewpoint that you SHOULD have. Maybe more. I could analyze a still shot and do the math, but nah. The GUI blocks a little bit more, and that thing has no place in an RE game. Yet another reason why RE4 has no atmosphere to enjoy.
It's easily the worst in the series, and no one can change my mind. But thanks about backing up my claims as a fair mod.
