Lol, apparently the original arcade version of Punch-Out!! came out in 83. That game is still a lot of fun.

Looking into it apparently the best selling/best video game of the year for me would be Space Invaders.

Nintendo also released their Color TV Game 6 that year, the Atari 2600 debuted (pick your favorite game here.) Zork made it's debut, as did Space Wars (first vector game.) And cool enough being game related Showbiz Pizza Time Theater is born.

The winner though, would probably have to be Pac-Man, at least objectively. Probably not the one I'd personally choose.

Oh, Missle Command. It may seem kitsch today, but it was poignant in 1980. Keep trying to defend your cities from ICBMs for as long as you can, but you know destruction is inevitable. This is cold war gaming at its very best.
