made a lot of progress over the weekend. I'm at like 25 hrs now. The clock is ticking down on the Avatar Project, so I'm getting pretty nervous there. But I managed to survive the mission where the UFO shoots you down with a pretty weakened crew. It took forEVER though. Also the most triumphant moment I've had in this game was successfully hacking a Sectopod. Anyway, I really hope that I can pull off some good stuff in the next few game days else the doomsday clock runs out.

Are there any active enemy blacksites? Taking those down will reduce the Avatar counter by a number of boxes equal to the number of boxes on the icon. And like you probably saw several story missions reduce the Avatar counter; the later missions will reduce by 2-3 boxes.

I'm actually on a blacksite mission now. Like, I saved my game in the middle of it.

BUT - will it reduce the Avatar counter if the boxes are already full and now there's a countdown clock happening?

Yes it will. You currently have a 10 box counter that's hidden behind the ticking clock. So if this blacksite has two boxes on its icon then when you finish you'd be down to an 8 box counter and the clock goes away.

What tech level are you at? What's the latest new alien you've run into? You mentioned Sectopods; there's a couple new ones that you may or may not have seen depending on how the game rolled the enemy forces.

Yeah hitting the blacksites buys you a good bit of time to build and seems to be an indicator of a campaign getting on track.

um, most recent aliens I've seen are the Muton-likes that charge at you, and also one of those robo-soldiers that are red and shoot missiles like a Sectopod. And um, those flying dudes. (I'm terrible w/ names.)

The Muton-likes that charge at you, do you mean the Berserkers? Then you've got the Advanced MECs that drop into overwatch when discovered rather than run to cover/closer to your guys and the Archons (flying guys). So you've still got a few more aliens to discover. Have fun with that <evil cackle>.

OH! I forgot, there was a new one on the map I'm on now actually. He's kind of like a Codex in that he keeps sort of teleporting all over the place. Though he doesn't seem as deadly as a Codex.

Are you sure it isn't a Codex that's teleporting around? The only other one I can think of that can teleport around is a special one-off that triggers from a story objective.

it's not a Codex. I just looked through my achievements. It was an Avatar.
