Not too keen on this game so far. I know there's depth behind the scoring - but so far the run i've felt was my absolute worst has been my highest scoring. The run prior to this, I died at about the exact same time, and scored 200k less despite having a full set in that one.

Same. My highest scores have come when I don't pay attention to items, which doesn't make any sense to me.

Getting a complete set early can be huge, but getting one item can more than double your first round score. Each boss can be dissected - you can straight up shoot Busturtle with Blue bullets and kill him in 20 seconds, or you can pick apart each part of his body for items with your options and then finish him off with your option at level 8 to get his Ruby. He can be worth 100K or a 500K+ all depending on how much you pull out of him and how high your X bonus is at at the time.

This is a competition so I don't want to give away too many strategies - but really, if you google strategy you'll see how easy the scoring and strategy can become with just a little time.

That clicked. Not an impressive jump in score, but the whole thing makes a lot more sense to me now.

Fuuuuuck. Well I've been improving all day and just had my best run by far yet but I was in full screen mode and I didn't know how to exit it so I could take a screenshot with my dashboard tool that I use. So like dummy I hit F2 which put me into the arcade test menu. When I exited that menu the results were gone. I saw the score minus the last three digits so I am rounding down.

I didn't get any runs the past 2 days and will likely only have one more day this week and I know I have much better runs in me...so here's to hoping.

In the meantime, my son did get about an hour in tonight and here was his best (he's really struggling w/the speed on stage 2, but he's got stage 1 down pretty well):

I'm liking it a lot! I thought it was going to be too much with the polarity and item collection based on the level of shot charge but its actually made this shmup really interesting and rewarding. It's amazing how I can have a 1.7+ mil run followed by a 400k disaster. You really just have to stick with it, work on getting your multiplier going early and practice not wasting lives during the boss battles.

My epic 2.7M run was my one and only over 2M so I am hoping I can get back there. I don't like not having a screenshot of my score.

I'm a big fan of Dimahoo. My only problem with it is dying to bullets I can barely see, especially in Stage 2, due to the fact that a lot of enemies, backgrounds, bullets and items are similar shades of red/orange/yellow. I know people complain about invisible bullets in Garegga, but I have more of a problem with it here. I guess it might be my own fault for triggering big cascades of items...
