Um, I already said earlier that I wouldn't mind if the protagonist was Zelda or Link...

Evolve the core series? By what, changing the main character? The Zelda franchise constantly changes up its graphical style to keep the series fresh - Wind Waker, Link Between Worlds, Spirit Tracks, Twilight Princess, and the list goes on and on from there. Nintendo can't afford to fuck this game up with stupidity like making the game about Link's sister or something, especially because of the dire straits the Wii-U is currently in.

Actually, nope. See that moderator tag next to my screen name? That means I'm supposed to make sure everyone plays nice and help foster good conversation. Play nice or find another conversation to participate in.

I did not call any one any derogatory names, use any expletives, or even resort to ad hominem debating. I can only conclude you interpreted my "tone" to have been malicious, which it was never meant to be. Deriding me over perceived tonal assumption seems a bit strange, but okay champ.

Why not? Princess Peach got her own Mario style game, so did Luigi, and now Toad is as well. Those things certainly don't dilute or harm the core franchise they sprang from. So why can't Zelda get her own Zelda style game then? At best it's progressive, at worst it's at least a try at shaking things up.

Those are fresh coats of paint over the same old house.

I understand some people are traditionalists and don't like change. But honestly I think the Wii U needs as much change as possible. Obviously doing things the same old way hasn't helped the console's sales out too much yet.

Personally I would like to play a Zelda where you are Zelda herself and you have to stop Link because he has been possessed by Ganondorf's evil spirit. The gameplay can evolve by being open world for starters, with secret areas accessible via special items you can make yourself by combining random parts, instead of a boat or a train Zelda can have her own dragon she can upgrade as well over time, used for travel and certain boss fights. There are lots of things a new Zelda game could add to the mix that wouldn't ruin the core spirit but would enhance the experience.

Well you have to remember those are spin offs and not actually main series games, so a little hard to prove that fact. But a zelda game actually about zelda might be nice but it would have to be a spin-off much akin to super princess peach but in the style of TLoZ

Am I the only one who doesn't understand how this was even a question? The face of the character in the trailer looks like Link's face, and this is not the first time Link has started out not in his iconic clothes.

Well in Twilight Princess you play half the game as a wolf and that didn't seem to bother anyone.

Because the wolf was Link. Maybe they can do a Cinderella Boy thing where Link and Zelda fuse and are Link during the day and Zelda at night.

I'm okay with this!
