I'm not well informed enough to judge, as I even have yet to read the finger pointing article about ESPN, but Sam was a stand out performer.

Sure, the spotlight was on him, but the spotlight was on him.

Pure speculation right now, but it just seems fishy. I know that it's not always about talent, it's about getting ais. Lord knows Romo only has a job because of his fan base. So why not Sam, who is a character, and is actually good at what he does? Dude should be a shoe in for a multi million dollar contract.

I'm numbers oriented, so when see his stats all I can think is "How?". How is this beast not signed? He's like a fit and young Julius Peppers.
Romo's numbers substantiate his job, even if the post-season/late-season ones are lousy. He's still good "on paper" and, generally, in games.

Sam's numbers can only be compared to those of similar players against similar talent, and in that context his stats are nothing remarkable on a team that has a lot of depth at his position. Certainly there are teams that could use him and probably should consider signing him (the Cowboys need help there, for one), and I'm more convinced that NOT signing him/drafting him has something to do with his being gay…but I don't think this is the Rams' reason for dropping him (after all, thy did draft him).

Didn't Sam want to be treated just like any other NFL player? 7th round one-dimensional picks on a team already stacked at d-line don't often make the team.

And while he had a great preseason, no other team put a claim in for him once he was released.

Sam has nothing on the athletic ability of a young Peppers. They are in 2 different worlds.

Romo is also better than a majority of NFL QBs, and has the most 4th qtr comebacks of any QBs in the last few seasons. I am not a Romo fan, but I acknowledge his ability.

And what is his win % when it counts?

He has the ability to not win playoff games.

He has made his boneheaded plays at times, but that is only what they remember. His play puts them in a position to win.

Did anyone already make a Racketboy fantasy league? If not, I can scrounge one up real quick if 7,9 or 11 people wanna join in. The draft would have to be before Thursday night, though.

"They" meaning, winners? We're not talking Dan Marino here. Tony Romo is not a hall of famer, nor can he win playoff games.

Nothing against the guy, but Romo's not good enough to have started for nearly a decade. I think Grossman has a better playoff record, which is a scary thought. Shit. Butt fumbling Sanchez may have a better playoff record.

It'd be nice if Romo'd had a team that didn't put him in a position where a crunch time errant throw didn't decide the game.

Excuses. Players make plays.

Food for thought:
