Don't die and don't let the medals leave the screen.

You can definitely keep a chain through a death. I think the other part is correct, though. I've been trying to get too many medals when my chain is at 10K, but if it's held too long, a couple go off screen before you let go of HYPER shot and got back to REGULAR shot, which vacuums them in. My first run not doing that - going for chains that weren't as long I was able to keep my chain from the end of stage 1 boss through Mid boss and had the extend at that point. Ended up dying twice on 2nd boss, but managed through to stage 3 midboss on this last run:

Didn't care for this game much when I played it before, but now that i'm understanding it, i'm really liking it. Finally got to bust out the TATE setup for this one too! So now I get to take photos of my scores!

An old 32" RCA CRT I picked up on craigs a few months back. It's a total beast.

Is there a way to get scanlines out of my xbox 360 with the XRGB-mini via HDMI? I wish I knew where my S-video cable went :(

OK, then I guess I lost a couple of medals when I die and that is why it gets reset a 10th of their value.

So are you using component, but have the "smoothing" turned off and that gets the scanlines? Through HDMI on LCD w/smoothing turned off, I almost get scanlines and it's better than the smooth, but not quite what i'd prefer. Maybe i'll move this down to a CRT tomorrow...

EDIT: saw spoony's pic. That's legit man. Love it. I'd be a bit closer than that coffee table though :)

It's an SD CRT, connected through component, and I believe smoothing is on? (whatever the default is)

The couch is practically right up to the coffee table, and it's way too close as it is, haha. If I play any closer for too long, my eyes feel like they're going to melt.

I can confirm keeping your chain through death, but if you die while medals are on the screen, you're almost certain to go down in rank. Not sure what else effects when they go down or how much they do. I thought it was one rank per medal allowed offscreen, but I saw Yuki go down a considerable amount earlier after missing only one medal.
