It's completely different... It's set in the same world, but other than that, it's far from being "the same game" or a rehash.Violent By Design wrote:Is this game different enough from a Link to the Past? I played some of it and it seemed like the same game.

Ah, that was easy. If you can't track the ghost(s) then just use the Hint Glasses.Hazerd wrote:Not going to lie, the lost woods tricked me good (fail...)

Funny story; I didn't know the hint glasses existed until I was watching my friend play (I let her my copy while I was in town for Thanksgiving) and she went in to the Fortune Teller Shop to hear the remixed music.Ziggy587 wrote:Ah, that was easy. Re: Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Just finished the Thieves Hideout and it was a lot of fun, I had the boss down to the last couple of hits, and got killed. It was a pain to have to get that girl again, and I didnt notice the short cuts made, do I walked her all the way through the dungeon again, until she got stuck when I went through a door without her, back to the jail cell. Once I got her again I found the short cuts and it was a lot faster.
I have to say, some people have been complaining about the fact that you can rent all the items right away, and have them all on hand. I have no problem with it, and the fact that they will be taken away if you die makes staying alive a lot more important IMO. I was seriously mad that I died, and lost all of my items, and now have to trek back to the house and get my stuff.

Yeah, I just don't know how I feel about the rental thing. In LttP, the hammer, hookshot, and bombs all allowed you to access areas you couldn't otherwise. You got the items one by one. Being able to get them all at once means being able to go ANY where right in the beginning of the game. I just found that kinda weird.
Of COURSE I rented all the times asap. And I actually died once, I said, "Fuck it!" and just started my save over instead of losing all the items. As soon as I reached the point of being able to buy the items, I made that my number one priority for money.

The upgraded fire rod is amazing. I highly recommend it as your first purchase and upgrade.Ziggy587 wrote:Yeah, I just don't know how I feel about the rental thing. You know, after you save the witch and she starts talking to you again when you hitch a ride on her broom, she actually TELLS you to visit the fortune teller to find out about some funny glasses. But I can completely understand just mashing the A button when you wanna fly some where. That's what I normally do, and almost missed it.MrPopo wrote:Funny story; I didn't know the hint glasses existed until I was watching my friend play (I let her my copy while I was in town for Thanksgiving) and she went in to the Fortune Teller Shop to hear the remixed music.Ziggy587 wrote:Ah, that was easy. Ah, fuck, I've upgraded just about everything so far except for the fire and ice rods. I'll have to check it out next. It just kinda sucks because you're not sure what the upgraded item will do, and I might not bother trying to find every last one of those little things which I guess would mean not being able to upgrade one last item in the game.MrPopo wrote:The upgraded fire rod is amazing. Their chirps to alert you to their presence is really annoying. I like to find them just so they can stop making that noise!
Re: Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Finding all the guys is not too difficult; it's certainly no OoT Gold Skultullas. The upgraded Ice Rod isn't too useful as a weapon, but it's great for the dungeon that you need the Ice Rod in to progress. And I had the same path of upgrading stuff; first I did the Zelda staples like the Boomerang and the Bow and did several of the rods last. But when I first tried out the upgraded Fire Rod on some enemies it was like "why didn't I do this sooner?"
