Eh, let him play what genres he wants to play, regardless of format. I sometimes play solitaire on my SNES.
Anyway, Noise, Mike, have you considered trying out Dead Pixels? It's a zombie-based run & gun with RPG elements that looks like it would work on a NES. I think it might be limited to 2-player, and it is more than a little grind heavy at the start, but I've played through it several times and enjoyed it.

After that...well, I mostly play FPS on Steam, and there are quite a few older titles available. If Mike suddenly feels the urge to blast his buddies in a mid-90s murder sim, let me know!

Ack, Dead Pixels looks awesome... but according to the Steam page it's local co-op only. Too bad, that would have been a great one to try together. Though for $3 I'll prob end up getting it for myself anyway.

Having looked it up, I see you're right. It's also apparently a pain in the ass to get running(one person has to have mouse and keyboard while the other has to use a 360 pad). Ah well, I'm afraid I'm out of suggestions.noiseredux wrote:Ack, Dead Pixels looks awesome... but according to the Steam page it's local co-op only. Sine Mora, sure it's on PS/360, but it's also on steam! and a pretty good modern shmup if you ask me, and it's cheap at $9.99, developed by Grasshopper Manufacture.

Terraria. Low system requirements, multi-player, open world with Minecraft-style crafting and construction elements. Seems interesting so far.

Terreria is one i've looked at. I prefer physical where available. Terreria iirc has a physical LE release on 360...but is the actual game physical or it is it just some papers and goodies to go along with a digital download?
I've been thoroughly impressed w/MDV. Brad and I were talking and I might get a gaming PC, we'll see. So far i've had 3 real successes (Vasara (MAME), Kamui (PC Download), MDV (STEAM) to go along with (5) disappointments (Batrider (MAME - can't get it to load in MAME, have downloaded every rom available, including the parent), Super Spacefortress Macross (MAME - sound seems off, slowdown apparent that I don't see on the PCB), Giana Sisters (STEAM - plays horribly slow; can't find an option on this one to lower the settings - unplayable as it is now), Enchanted Princess Dragonstone (PC Download - Joystick available for actions only, not for movement), Hellsinker (PC Download - won't open up, gives multiple errors).
I think at least 2, maybe 3 of those disappointments are tied directly to my cheap PC, thusly, this PC gaming might be for me afterall. Would save a ton of space and I like the online co-op / free now that PSN and 360 are both going to be pay services.

Admittedly a few of us here play, and I wouldn't really call it "arcade-y."marurun wrote:Terraria. Low system requirements, multi-player, open world with Minecraft-style crafting and construction elements. Seems interesting so far.
Also, it should be noted that the PC and console versions actually have different equipment, events, bosses, etc.

There is a pc release that comes on a jumpdrive shaped like the pickaxe. But as far as I know, it is still just a steamkey.mjmjr25 wrote:Terreria is one i've looked at. Terraria is a boatload of fun with multiple people.
