My only regret is buying more games than ill ever play.

Also been playing WoW since 2005, 435 days played on my main, no fucks given, best gaming experience ever after my child-hood.

Not keeping the boxes for anything.

Not getting into Nintendo Power when I had the chance.

Trading away my original consoles and games back in the day to upgrade.

Not buying Gamecube/DS/PSP games when they were cheap. Now Gamestop no longer sells them...at least the ones around me don't any more.

My biggest regret? Ever picking up a damn controller in the first place. I mean how many hours, days, weeks, months and years could I have back if I never picked up an NES controller and played Super Mario Bros? That got me addicted to gaming and has caused idk how many problems in my life and for what? Some fictional characters getting a happy ending? I might love gaming but given the chance I think I would go back and stop my younger self...

Arguable.

Another regret, for me, is buying a multiple controllers for my systems. I don't have people come over and play often, so I don't need them.

I live life with no regrets. Hope you guys don't mind me being so blunt, but however if something regrettable happens I have to make it up at least by double.
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

This is like the exact opposite of the way I feel. I went through a period of my life where gaming wasn't really a factor, and I totally regret all the experiences I missed out on during that time.

Of course, it's never too late to go back and play stuff. That's why this site exists in the first place, right?

Well I bet gaming has never gotten in your way of...anything has it? It's gotten in the way of schoolwork, having friends...having a life. It's not pretty nor is it fun.

Yeah that's where I'm at. Didn't touch a controller from about 2001-2009. Because of that everything 5th/6th gen that I own was purchased used. And of course I missed out on a lot of great games while they were current.

I'm truly sorry that's been your experience. Personally, I've had other things in my life besides gaming that have caused the same effects for me, so I do understand to an extent.

I will say that, much like it's not too late to go back and play those SNES games one didn't play because one was a Sega kid growing up, it's never too late to make a change in one's lifestyle. Oftentimes it's much, much easier said than done, but it all starts with making a conscious decision to do so. And though the road may be a hard one traveled, you'll likely find taking that trek pays off better in the end more than you'd imagine.

That's almost exactly the same timeframe I was out of the game. I petered out not long after getting a PS2 in like 2001. But even before that, I was losing interest quickly. And though there were usually games around me in some form, I barely paid much attention.

Sounds like you lack balance and moderation in your life if gaming is getting in the way of all these other things. I think the line is quite fine between a hobby and an addiction, and a lot of people struggle with defining that line (and not just with video games). If you can't find balance, then it doesn't matter what hobby you're interested in - you'll just be consumed by something else. Also, no one forces you to pick up a game and play it; every single you time you do it, you're making a choice.
