Re: Practically impossible levels and bosses
That spider boss represents the genius of Devil May Cry's boss design. For a new player, it can feel overwhelming and seemingly impossible. I myself distinctly remember getting walloped by that boss several times when I first played the game, and this seems to be pretty much the experience everyone has. But if you stick with it, and really come to understand and master the tools you have and the moveset of the boss, it is entirely possibly to dominate the fight without taking a single hit even on the highest difficulty. There are no cheap shots or anything, it's all fair and any damage taken is purely due to player error. The same can be said of every boss fight in the game pretty much. This creates a feeling of reward that is possibly unparalleled in the genre when you manage to play well.
Whoever designed these fights really knew game design on another level. Of course, Capcom and their infinite wisdom would put a stop to that and change development teams with the next game.

Design like that is really rare in 3D games like this when compared to older 2D games. Or atleast harder to pull off
