Racket STGT Nov. 2013 - COLUMBIAN HI-BALLERS teh CHAMPS!
Re: IC: Racketboy STGT 2013 - November - Rules and Team inf
...at 13 participants right now. Once we get (2) more (or preferably another 10!) we can get teams setup and start a game list.

Look who came crawling in and made #15.
It's official. Let's get it on!
I like the easily obtainable game thing and this would save us an emergency vote. My only issue is whatever games we pick I hope will still be considered for next year's monthly schedule. I don't want a decent game that only gets a week to be shutout in 2014 because we already did it. That being said, I wouldn't mind doing games we already played either.

We're official. Gonna give a few more days to allow more folks to sign up before drawing up teams.
See OP for updated schedule.

I don't know that I would be in favor of doing voting and announcing the games ahead of time. That allows people to practice and prepare for the tournament, which is kind of counter to how I tend to think of STGT working over on shmups.org. A big part of the attraction, for me, is the surprise that EVERYONE has when a game is announced, and the fact that you only have one week to play it/improve. If the guys on my team can start playing each of the announced games for a week or two each prior to the actual start, and the guys on your team can't, there's a clear disadvantage...

I feel the same. I liked how last year we were just put into the games every week without any real notice. I never played any of those games we did there and it was a better experience to try to get good real fast in a week.

I don't disagree and we can do a form of that - I do worry about folks (like myself, noise, fox) who aren't emulation experts.
What do you guys think of this:
Each participant, regardless of team affiliation, submits 4 games.
1 each from 1990-1995, 1996-2000, 2001-2005, 2006-2010
This would give us a pool of 60 games to draw from (with our current size). We can announce the group of 60 so people have some idea of what they might be playing - can start locating cheap carts/discs of titles that interest them, can locate and test out roms, etc. But certainly there is no risk of anyone becoming very well versed at 60 games in such a short time frame.

Yeah, I was thinking of something similar to that, with a randomization for selection.

seems reasonable to me, I guess.
