I listened to a podcast interviewing a guy with 8,000 games including some super rare stuff like Stadium Events and Night trap sealed. He believes that this fall will be the time for people to load up on current gen games when droves of people end up trading them in at Gamestop to buy PS4s and Xbox Ones.

Granted it's all used stuff you're getting, but building up a good collection is a slow process if you only go for mint or sealed stuff.

Sure, but I've also picked up a decent number of games from the Target clearance shelf for $8-12. Gamestop has $10 and under racks of used games for both systems.

I tend to do most of my shopping online though, and you can find quite a lot for under $20 there.
Don't forget Kmart. When they clearance stuff they usually clearance that stuff to sell. I've got 33 PS3 games and the most I've spent on one there was $30 for the Collectors Edition of Assassins Creed Brotherhood. Twenty-five percent of the rest were also purchased at Kmart for less than $10. Hell, they had Vanquish marked down to $1.99. Between them, the internet and Gamestop, with the exception of the CE, I haven't spent more than $20 on any PS3 game.

While I wouldn't say that now is the time to "collect", it is the right time to start keeping your eyes pealed. With the new systems coming out prices might start dropping faster than you think.
