This has been my only real problem with legalization. You need a system in place that can detect if you have had been smoking pot in the last 10 minutes or in the last 10 days that doesn't involve giving a blood sample.
I'd be fine giving a blood sample if it could actually tell the difference and prevent me from getting hit with an unjust penalty. Can a blood test tell the difference?
I'm pretty sure that after prohibition many people had this same problem with marijuana but they developed a system. Same thing will happen with bud. Driving drunk and driving high are 2 very different things. I have drove around with high people and never been in a crash. I can't say the same about drunk people.

I don't really see an issue with it, assuming it is treated like alcohol- something that needs to be respected and treated correctly. Saying that, I'm for it really.

As with the questions of driving under the influence of weed, I question how it affects others around you. I don't really see it as fair to give the rest of the people in the bar with you a contact high. The same with your kids in the car. Its your choice, I guess, but I know enough heavy stoners to know that hitting it when you're too young can have ill effects. The stoners I know who started at around twelve are really blasted in their memory and thoughts compared to those I know who started in college or the like. It may be caused by other reasons, but that seems to be it as far as I can tell.

I'm also wondering how the e-cigarette situation might affect it. I know of people getting liquid THC, and forms of hash oil and smoking them out of e-cigarettes. Would that lead to contact highs for those around you? If not, that seems like a really good solution.

However, legalizing it will force me to look for a different job than I planned. Kinda hard to run illegal grass across the Mexican border when its legal...

Hm. What was my first post in this thread?

You can add a "yet" to the end of your statement.

As someone who will admit that I have drove high(once) and drunk(a couple times) in the past. I can honestly say that while neither is good, driving drunk is 10 times worse than driving high.

True, driving drunk is easily the worse of the two. But driving under ANY influence is a bad idea. Driving is dangerous enough when you're sober. When you're high, your reflexes are way down and you don't have time to react to all the other jackasses on the road. And this is coming from a big stoner.

I haven't touched the stuff in years, but I was once a pretty regular user (high school days). To me, it barely comes off as something that warrants discussion or attention the way it does. I think how it is massively demonized is ridiculous. I think the fact you can go to jail over anything related to weed is completely absurd. But I also think it brings nothing but harm to the user (this is their choice though - so whatever). I also believe that it comes with several significant negatives, and that overall it's not any better than alcohol.

For the most part I wish it would just get legalized, so I would stop hearing about it. There are much more important things the government needs to concern themselves with.

And if you are getting into car accidents over a marijuana high, you are a terribly shitty driver to begin with.

You can get into car accidents because of other terrible drivers, even if you did everything right. Other times, you can only be saved by your own reflexes.

I've almost been run over - on foot - countless times because people who were drunk or high or maybe just insane didn't follow the rules of the road. I've had some bizarre experiences jumping on and over and away from cars!

I broke my hand this year because some sleep deprived fuckwit didn't bother to open his eyes while I was crossing a four-way intersection. The only reason I couldn't avoid him is because I was on my bike.

Reaction time is everything. If you're going 60 miles per hour, you should be sober, awake, attentive, and morally straight. A car is really a terrifying sort of death trap.

Well, if the law of averages applies (and it always does) being from SC already makes you a shitty driver by default.

Not to poo poo on entire states, but it boils down to two types of driving styles when it really matters:

1) Drivers in big cities who know how to drive, park, obey the laws, and work with each other to keep traffic going (even if it means switching lanes in a millisecond). Team players if you will.

2) Douche bags who think they own the road and think they are always right (although they pass on the right).
