What Flashlight do you like to use?
Re: What Flashlight do you like to use?
I read the subject title as Fleshlight.
I think I need new glasses.

I used to own one of these:fastbilly1 wrote:My absolute favorite is the one my grandfather use to carry all the time. A duracell durabeam:
Everytime I find them I buy them, and sadly only have 3. One lives in my car, another at my workbench. Eventually I will add an LED light to one.

A Durabeam but much lower output than yours.
I thought the same too but when I did research looking for a good single AA battery flashlight all these forums and websites popped up dedicated to just that: flashlights.AppleQueso wrote:I had no ideas flashlights were this kind of serious business

So I'm putting some life back into this thread and talk about something I picked up recently. Costco has Duracell Durabeam Ultra two pack with 6 C batteries for $25. At 500 lumen its super frigging bright and for $12.50 you could do much worse.

Re: What Flashlight do you like to use?
I've been using a mini-mag lately. It's as durable as a full-sized maglite, but it runs off (rechargeable) AAs and fits in my pocket. I admit it's not as bright as its big brother, and the batteries don't last as long as four D batteries, but I have an easier time finding rechargeable AAs. My mini-mag is a little battle worn from years of use, but it keeps on working. I think all the scratches give it character.
Would anyone like to recommend a crank-powered flashlight? I used to keep one in my car, but I seemed to have lost track of it. I've been looking for that thing for months. I guess it's time to bite the bullet and buy a new one. I hate driving around without a flashlight in my car.

Big flashlight collector here. Have dozens of models, but my primaries are:
For tactical, I use a NEBO Redline - fits on a duty belt, has strobe function, really light, but compact and has a serated edge to defend. Lights up the entire backyard or can blind intruders, super functional.
For more day to day use and a wider beam, I use Dorcy brand. They put out exceptional light and are only about $22, so if you bust one in the garage or just want a spare in the trunk of each vehicle, they don't break the bank.

Re: What Flashlight do you like to use?
So I finally got my parcel from China. In it were 30 of these:
They are the baby of the one I spoke of earlier using 4 AAAs. This one uses a AA battery and easily fits in your pocket. It is also 300 lumens and metal. The only downside is it takes months to arrive from China. A friend of mine was in town when I got them and bought 20 of them off of me and several are being used in the background of a TV show right now.

This thread pertains to my interests.
I like to paracord wrap my maglites around the grip so they are not so cold to the touch in winter. By my bed I have a 2d black maglite with black paracord and a 5d red maglite with black paracord. In my carhart, I keep a 2aa maglite w/ anti roll bezel and "bust a cap"(a battery cover that doubles as a glass breaker). In the front room, I keep a LED 2aa(black w/black). On my key chain I have a single aaa maglite solitaire green. Then in the car I keep an old 2d maglite (black w/black) that I upgraded with a teralux led bulb replacement and a Remington (I think it is a rebrand of a rayovac) 4c Spot Light that I use at night on pizza delievery.

Then I also have a 6d(black w/black), 4d (which I got from some hill billy off craigslist and I can't get the suckers battery cap off, even with the handyman from my work and a vice we couldn't get it open oh well), 3c, 2aa(silver w/white and black wrap), and a 2d LED PRO Blue (got with amazon visa points and a $20 off amazon credit I got cause some stuff for xmas never showed).
If you have an old maglite (or find one cheap), upgrade it to an led bulb. After market bulbs aren't always as good as stock maglite led but I can recomend Teralux leds. Just get the one rated for your flashlight and you are good to go.

I can't seem to justify the cost of this thing but that hasn't stopped me from wanting it.

Re: What Flashlight do you like to use?
I have been partial to maglights, still have mine from the military days with the pop lens for red light to save on night vision. The last couple of years the Harbor Frieght spot light SKU 67227 as been my main flashlight for automotive work and great as an evening back yard dog poop finder light.
Really like this dual front and top LED light. Uses standard AAA, has a hook underneath for hanging and a magnet as well for sticking under the hood, a very bright light.
Sometimes goes on sale, right now only $3.49 including batteries! Find the coupon in the monthly flyer and get it even cheaper.
