I live near Worcester/auburn ma and every thrift shop or flea market or yard sales I go to never has anything anymore. Craigslist is now a more of a miss than a hit in my area. There is a few savers/ salvation army's here but I never see anything anymore and savers go to amazon.com to check prices on what things are worth and sell them at highest price, and to think they got this stuff for free.
I'd say do what another member said go and get psp, xbox, and ps2 games. They are so cheap right now. it's going to be very hard to get 8 bit and 16 bit games hell any Nintendo system and games are sky high in price now. Even flea markets are getting crazy with prices. I remember I went to a table and seen a few games not priced and were next to a few sports games marked for 1.00 and I told him here I'll take these games and he said whoa wait a minute and pulled out his phone and checked the prices and tried to sell me full price. I said forget it.
The whole point of the story is it's getting harder to find good games now and yes I do blame the internet like ebay, game chasers, storage wars, etc. But I also know that if I want a rare game or a great game I can always go to ebay and get the game I want.
My advice go to yard sales they are the only way of getting games now. But also think of all the gas and milage your using also. Will it be worth to find Zelda for the nes for 4.00 when it took you three days of searching wasting a full tank of gas which will cost you 35.00 for an average car

Yard sales are very hit and miss.
Here is a one tip, keep your eye out for yard sale signs during the week.
What I find is even though I live in a suburb to one of the largest US cities, Washington DC, a lot of people don't use Craigslist to list the sale.
I find that the sales that are not on Craigslist still have things to pick from.
The yard sales listed on Craigslist will have resellers at the door 20 minutes before the sale starts. I have decided on my end, that if the yard sale on Craigslist isn't within 10 miles of my home, I don't even go because it isn't worth the gas and effort just to see some guy walk away with everything.

I check all the craigslist sections for game stuff that's how i ended up with 14 boxes of video game systems and games a few months back. i gave the guy my number and went back saturday when he had a yard sale and asked if he found the rest of his games and he had another 4 boxes and 6 more nes systems and a atari 2600. Ask people at yard sales cause you never know even if you don't see anything. I know there are at least 9 dealers in my area alone so i have to be creative to find stuff
