Who uses handhelds as their music players?

Anything that is gaming related that doesn't fit well anywhere else

Yeah, too many concerts on stage, at a console and in the nosebleed section plus my working conditions - my hearing's kinda destroyed despite earplugs used when necessary. I still appreciate having high fidelity and low noise level tho. Even I can tell when it's an MP3 and if it's less than 256.
Ever try piping a GBA into a sound system? You can hear the bitmaps or music preloading.
Or LOL were you using that in the de·rog·a·to·ry sense?

Audiophile is basically a derogatory term to me. When I think of audiophiles, I think of gold-plated connectors, over-priced cables, and dubious claims toward hearing with "trained ears".

Actually, I do have my Gamecube and Game Boy Player connected to my sound system. Some Game Boy Advance games have surprisingly good audio (when removed from the tiny speaker that comes with the GBA). Drill Dozer has catchy music and good sound effects. Metroid: Zero Mission has some cool, atmospheric music.

I never heard any bitmaps or music preloading. How did you achieve this?

This kind of statement, however strikes me as distinctly audiophile. Every audiophile I ever met claimed to have super sophisticated hearing.
My hearing is better than average, but not super. Just sharp enough to recognize encoding artifacts. It's more about understanding the technology than having ESP.

I do have some gold-plated cables...my dad buys them.

Not anymore...

I used to carry around my Sony Walkman CD-Player everywhere, but kids in school used to break/scratch up my discs.

I used Sony mini-discs for the longest time. I'd probably still be using them if I hadn't lost them all.

After losing the MDs, I started using my PSP1000/2001 for all my media. I didn't like the default music player, so I had a homebrew one with my CFW. This is what I used to listen to music for years, up until I got my first smart-phone.

Now that I use Google-Music, I have a hard time using anything else. I have almost my entire library uploaded, and can access it from any of my devices. If I decide to get a new phone, I don't need to transfer anything. Just sign into Google, and start listening.
