Another World, good looking trial and error platformers in general
Point&Click adventure games like Discworld that are really hard/have bad puzzles but look beautiful and are loaded with funny dialogue.
Dragon's lair, Space Ace, Strahl and other "QTE games" that have really good animation and visuals but gameplay is nothing more than trial and error memorization
Games that have a high learning curve/where you're clueless what to do/have awkward controls, but are intresting in the story/visual/music/concept department, like some survival horror games with tank controls and early 3D PC games (can't give any concrete examples at the moment). Even though it's a well respected and written game, I'd say that Grim Fandango is like this also. The 3D world and stupid control scheme just feel awkward compared to earlier point and click adventure games in my opinnion.
Games that are fun to watch, but not play.

Re: Games that are fun to watch, but not play.
I finally thought of one... Vice City. It's the only GTA I've really been drawn to for the setting, music and story. I think it's got a great atmosphere and humor and maybe even charm. Videos of it are great. But man, I just didn't love playing it.

I'd actually say games like GTA, Just Cause, Saints Row, Far Cry, etc are probably the most -boring- for me to watch people play. Even if my friends are going straight through the missions and not goofing around, or vice versa... yeah just something about these games. They're just too open and diverse to idly watch, "he didn't see that, I would have done this, gone there first", etc haha.
Xenogears takes the cake though. Probably one of my all time favorite games and hands down, the worst one to watch anyone play. It'll instantly put you in a coma.
Yeah we're definitely on the same page here, I've been pretty weary to try out the new Tomb Raider despite all the praise and my roommate loving it.
On the other hand I still am pretty excited to check out Asura's Wrath sometime. Ninja Blade was hilarious too, when the games take the QTE's and interactive movie elements to the extreme, it does get more entertaining for me.
